Not necessarily. Mine goes off like a popcorn popper at times. Sometimes when streaming Pandora it makes the volume go totally erratic, and will occasionally suppress the volume.

It will actually cause itself torestart occasionally. I have done hard restarts, factory resets, etc. This is the second one, as I did get Amazon to exchange the first one. My wife has an older 1st gen HD Fire 7 that has never had any problem. Very frustrating, I have had 2, both have popped like that.

It's the FB app. If you look under notifications the noise is "pop" turn it off and the popping goes away. Mine was doing it even with the headphones in and the external speaker were popping. It has not done it for 2 days since I turned it off in the settings.

Sounds like a static interference defect. Call up Amazon and exchange it.

I have a new Kindle Fire HD 7, and I noticed it makes severe crackling noises, for example if I touch the screen while it's playing music, but only while it's charging. Disconnect the USB cable that charges it, and boom, the crackling goes away.

Correction: the crackling happens when the Kindle is charged from the USB port located on the AVR, must be creating some kind of a feedback loop. When it's charged directly from a powerstrip, no crackling.

I'm having problems with my Kindle Fire HD. The sound bar keeps popping up on my screen when I'm reading, it starts raising and lowering the volume on its own. It's so frustrating. When I try to turn it off, the on and off button is often unresponsive. I really only use my machine to read. Does anyone have a suggestion? I would appreciate the help.

My Kindle Fire HD 8.9 has just started making these popping noises all the time but they go if I turn the sound off. I thought they were notification noises but as I've turned that off they obviously are not. Is it a fault. Should I return it and try another? Why is everything such a chore these days.

Mine has recently begun making a crackling noise, mostly when I play games, and twice in the past 24 hours has made a loud pop causing the unit to shut down.

Have you updated your Fire? Have you done a hard reset? Since the latest update, I've experienced no issues with the speakers. My display will be non-responsive from time to time and a hard reset cleans it up.

My K Fire HD made popping noises when I first got it (end of Oct 2012) and started playing various games. I haven't noticed it for the past month, but have no clue what caused it or why the popping has stopped. It has not affected the speakers because they come in great when playing music.

mine started popping last night. I was playing a game and lowest volume. it shuts down when I try to play a game. previous to last night I've had no problems. I've had my fire for about 1month.

Okay. As I was pressing post the kindle came! They sent it in its own box.. no outerbox! But... no sound issues and NO backlight bleeds! Yeah!

I will be getting my replacement hd tomorrow. I will post about it. If it pops or has light bleeds or used

Have you guys tried turning off Dolby Audio to see if the problem goes away?

Posted on Dec 4, 2012 7:34:44 AM PST
Yes, it seems the static popping or clicking sound is from the left speaker side. It also heats up in that area if you don't wear headphones. When is the software update going to fix this?

Posted on Dec 3, 2012 5:51:01 PM PST
Just started getting pops from the left speaker. Good to know I'm not alone, will follow along here.
