I am so happy the PW was made available in Canada. I fell in love with mine as soon as I got it.

it's tough to do too - my kindle I keep registered to somehow was deregistered and I had a heck of a time getting it reregistered to - it kept trying to default to even though I'm in France.

Never thought about that thanks for the tip. All my orders are through .com not .ca except for the new PW

as long as it's registered to the account, yes

What happens if you have a K2 registered at and just ordered a PW from, and want to keep your registration with Can I still access all the books I've already purchased on the new PW?

I have no issues with the Kindle PW itself or the case. The case is perfect for this Kindle.

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 27, 2013 6:30:23 AM PST
The case is supposed to put it in standby. I have been reading about issues with the case and the new kindle though. Problems going into standby and the light turning off. Let us hope they are isolated cases.

Oh. Good to know. Thank you.

No, you keep all the books you have already purchased. They are transferred to the .ca site.

I wonder if they are 'sleep' cases like the Kobo (put the device to sleep and awake when open and close).

Also, do you lose all of the books you bought at when you switch your account to .ca? It looked to me like we had to start fresh if we switched?

Thanks for the feedback. Just ordered one with the case.

Great News! I'll order mine today!

YAY! Mine is ordered and will arrive Monday! I ordered a case but that came from I felt the cases were a little lacking on the Canadian site (but I wanted leather and not black and the "proper"Kindle case)
Now I transferred my Kindle account to Canada. Thisbwas what I was waiting for :)

I'm so glad you got to cancel. I am sure she will feel more secure knowing it came from Amazon. Great news.

Let us know how she likes it. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the update. Who charged and didn't or shopereader?

Update - will now allow us to purchase the Paperwhite. Since my mother's order from the 15th was still showing as pending from, she was able to call and cancel the order and has ordered direct from Amazon. They were quick to charge her, but did not come through with the device.

We are the same. We have always ordered our kindles through the US store (we have had around 10 altogether from the first kindle release) and none have needed replacement. By the time it gets released everywhere it may as well be a new model as it has taken so long this time. Sometimes a little risk reaps a lot of benefits.

Enjoy it - I like mine (prefer my Touch, though)

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 15, 2013 6:49:19 AM PST
True. But given how 4 kindles so far have not needed any warranty help so far in our family, we're going to take the chance that by the time this would come into question, the availablilty will be matching. Ordered last night.

CBRetriever says:
but since they don't ship the Paperwhite to Canada right now, it would have to be shipped to somewhere in the US

They will warranty where they ship to. This is how its always been

CBRetriever says:
they stand behind it, but from what I understand, after reading many posts from people outside the US who've had problems, they will not ship a replacement outside the US at this time
