Gentlepeople: I am a bit relieved tinged with a bit of feeling foolish. After all the ranting I did I found the missing book sitting in the shelf on my Kindle Fire which was appropriated some time ago by my better half. I still don't understand why it also showed up on my iPad.

It's a little difficult to pin it down to the update in particular or the app in general if peoply say they had the same problem but don't mention whether they did or didn't install the update.

Not that it tells us much but I don't have any trouble downloading both those samples. Have you checked for an app update? Have you rebooted the iPad? Have you tried sending them from the Manage Your Kindle page? If you've tried those things, the next best bet is to contact Kindle customer service. Click on the blue Help link at the top of this page, then the yellow Contact Us button.

thanks the titles are "Deep Down: a jack reacher story" and The Drop (a Harry Bosch novel). This is the first time I've had problems downloading to my iPad.

You know you can return the e-book for a refund, right? Or you could tell us what the e-book is so that someone here might be able to help you.

What agrivate's me is this is a random event. I buy books all the time from Amazon and the books show up on my Mac iPad instantly. But this is the second book that won't download. The title and cover image appears but the text won't down load - so I'm out the $$ that I paid and nobody at Amazon can tell me what happened or how to correct the problem

We're just a bunch of other customers, not Amazon. That's not to say someone here can't be of help but we'd really need a little more information. What e-book is it? Is it by any chance one that's only supported on some devices? Is your app up-to-date? Did your iPad lose connectivity during the download?

I bought a book and had it sent to my iPad. But the book image shows "Downloading error" and I can not correct that. What's going on and how can I get my book?
