Does anyone know if Kindle offers larger print for the slightly impaired senior?

the font is adjustable so there's no need for a large print version.

Doosenbury, yes, as Smokey said, the font can be made very large. And depending on the Kindle model, several font styles are available also, and so your senior may find one easier to read than another.

Lots of people have written that they've gifted their parents and grandparents with Kindles, and they've loved them. If you do decide to get one, remember that you have thirty days to try it out. If your senior doesn't like it, you can return it and there would be no harm done to your pocketbook.

Thank you for the prompt reply. Good info. Now I have to decide. He got me mine for Mother's Day. I guess I should return the favor! LOL.

I got Smokey's reply and responded to it. Thanks though for your promptness. You both were very gracious. Thank You.

I had face surgery and can't wear my glasses because that's where the stitches are. Being able to make the print huge is an eye saver for me. That and the text to talk feature.

Ooh, Freda, I forgot about the Text-to-Speech/Read-to-Me feature. Thanks for bringing it up.

Doosenbury, this is a great thing. It's available on the Touch and Keyboard models, but not available on the $79 Basic model or on the Fire.

Doosenbury - It sounds like you won't be sharing the Kindle, but if someone who doesn't need large font uses the Kindle, I would recommend that they reset the font size to the larger size after reading. While the reading part of the Kindle does have very large size fonts, you can't change the font size for the menus.

Text to speech doesn't work on all books, but font size adjustment does. It's one of the best things about reading on Kindle!

I think this post add's to the discussion. For some reason Kindle does not advertise that they have very large font for those that are sight impared.

I have a feeling that their target audience is not older folks who can't see well and this may be a legitimate question.

They do advertise it.

From the product page:
"Read comfortably with eight different sizes and three font styles."
"Kindle has eight adjustable font sizes to suit your reading preference. You can increase the text size of your favorite book or periodical with the push of a button. If your eyes tire, simply increase the font size and continue reading comfortably. Kindle also has three font styles to choose from - all optimized and hand-tuned to provide the best reading experience."

Robin says:
So you have to READ about the large font. They really should advertise the large text imo.

What are you talking about? That is on the product page. Are you saying people shouldn't read the product page before they buy something? Where do you want them to advertise it? I've seen one or two of their commercials and I'm pretty sure they mention it.
