Jerry Tindel says:
To see if I can use it for all of our crews, I need to know what browser it uses, and if I can communicate through the web to our software.

Jerry Tindel says:
I read the product page. That is why I asked the question. I did not see a reference to a browser.

From the product description page:

Ultra-fast web browsing - Amazon Silk

Amazon Silk is a revolutionary, cloud-accelerated browser that uses a "split browser" architecture to leverage the computing speed and power of the Amazon Web Services cloud. Supports Adobe® Flash® Player. Learn why it's so fast.

There are many references to the browser.

"Amazon Silk is a revolutionary, cloud-accelerated browser that uses a "split browser" architecture to leverage the computing speed and power of the Amazon Web Services cloud. Supports Adobe® Flash® Player."

"Amazon Silk cloud-accelerated browser"

Bring up the description page, and look for references to Silk.

You mean you read the product page and you missed the BIG GOLD LETTERS before the feature info that said this?

"Ultra-fast web browsing - Amazon Silk" Then even a linkwithin the paragraph leading to more information.

The Fire's browser is based on the Android browser. It's the same core technology (Webkit) that is the foundation of Apple's Safari and Google's Chrome. If your website adheres to Web standards, there should not be a problem.

Cyriacus says:
You can use any android browser if you don't like the Silk browser. Just pop over to http://www.getjar.com and try a few.

Give the Dolphin Browser a try on your Kindle Fire.

Ive been trying to get the adobe flash player installed so my daughter can play games from the American girl doll site. I don't know what else to do???? Ive downloaded it to my kindle fire, but it wont open in the factory browser. Ive downloaded it to my computer and tried to transfer to my kindle fire through the USB. But, nothing....I give up!! I just wish that these companies would make software, downloads, etc... more simple and also compatible with other sources!!

Flash is already installed. If your're running the current version of the operating system, you have to go into the browser settings and turn it on.

There is no browser settings

L.powers, you won't get the browser settings unless the browser is open/on. Launch the browser, then tap the Menu icon, then you will see Settings, scroll to Behaviors, Enable Flash.

I am not able to check email on my Kindle because Comcast/Xfinity says my browser is not supported and that i need to upgrade it. Though it says I can "continue" it doesn't let me. Does anyone know how I can resolve this? I also have a NookColor and ive never had any problem checking my email.

You'll have better luck getting a response if you post this question as a new thread.

Bufo Calvin says:
C., have you tried using the built-in e-mail app? That should work for you...I check my Comcast e-mail that way.

The Kindle Fire comes with Amazon's Silk browser, but you can get Maxthon for free directly through the Amazon Appstore (I use both). You could also install an Android compatible browser from outside Amazon.

why can't i view facebook in the three columns with my notebook? also why cant i play all my facebook games i could on my notebook? also some games say i need to install flash player?

Nathan says:
1. I don't know anything about your notebook or Facebook for that matter.
2. Jeff Bezos wants you to be a productive citizen. Actually, you answer this question, to at least some extent, with your third question.
3. The Silk browser does not support flash. If you make your own thread (instead of resurrecting a year old thread about a different issue) one of the more knowledgeable forum goers will help you get a browser that does support flash.

For future reference: not all electronics are equivalent. Tablets are not a replacement for a full fledged computer. Be prepared for your tablet to have limitations.

1. I meant to say on my notebook, I view Facebook in three columns. On the kindle fire I only see one column with limited info.
2. So the guy that sold the kindle fire lied when he said I could do everything on Facebook ?
3. I may be ignorant but what you are saying I can use something besides silk that will allow me access to flash drive and who would help me
