I highly doubt they will come out with a Touch version of the DX.

I don't believe they will do anything further with the DX, apart from phase it out

What they said. My guess is they are closing out. If you really want one check to see if your local Staples has it on sale.

Got my DXG in April, 2011. Kept checking and wanting it. Then one day, just one day, it was on sale for $299. Bought it and am glad/satisfied. And yes, it may become extinct, but i got mine... Suspect when they're ready to drop it, there will be a good sale - maybe.

It looks like Amazon is coming out with a new Kindle every year but with different features on each one. Why not give us one that has it all? But then that would cut down on buyrs who once they got all that they wanted in one there would be no reason to buy again the next version to come out...right? I am hoping the one that comes out in July has more features because I like the size better.

What is that supposed to mean...I have bought thousands of dollars worth of stuff on Amazon and I have a right to speak my mind.

Zombie alert means you've resurrected a thread that died in October.

Yes you have a right to speak your mind. So does everyone else. You do NOT have a right to speak your mind and have nobody say anything in disagreement.

You have a right to speak your mind and we have an equal right to ignore you.

Even if this is a "zombie thread" it is relevant again. Three times this month (at least) Amazon has run a $210 DX plus leather cover sale. That indicates to me that they are trying to clear out DX stock, and on a timetable. So I do expect a new product in that relative form factor. However, whether it will be a new DX, or a Fire with a larger screen, who knows? A Fire with a larger screen doesn't interest me, for my own taste, for reading. I've gotten too spoiled to eInk and just don't like reading back-lit screens. I do like the DX form factor for reading though. I have a DX and a "normal" sized Kindle. I bought the DX to more easily look at technical reference books, but have wound up using it for all of my reading. While I would hate to see Amazon drop eInk in a DX sized screen, if what I've always read about tepid DX sales are true, that certainly could happen.

"That indicates to me that they are trying to clear out DX stock"

Yes, they probably are. Because they want to get rid of the units. Because nobody is buying them, so they're just taking up space. Considering it has been I believe TWO YEARS since the DX has had an update, I seriously doubt Amazon is coming out with a new one. They're just trying to get rid of the ones they have.

Well, it's the #101 selling product in the broad electronics category, so it is certainly not true that "nobody is buying them". However that high rank may indeed come from the recent specials, which were very good deals. There is no question that they don't sell in the same volumes the "regular sized" Kindles do, but of course that's a function of both price and portability. A lady could put a DX in a purse, but it would have to be a pretty large sized purse. LOL

I have 3 dx's. Stock piling. :) As far as putting in a purse, I couldn't fit a fire in mine without a cover.
