I am not very tech savy so I hope someone can help me. I currently own the Kindle 3G and love it but I am considering purchasing the fire for games, movies, magazines etc. If I purchase movies from Amazon can I watch them on the Fire without the wifi or do I always have to be near wifi to really use the Fire?

If you purchase a movie or rent a movie from Amazon, then you can download it and watch it without having wifi access. But if you are going to watch the Prime Instant movies, those are available for streaming only and you would need wifi access for those.

if you purchase the movie from Amazon, you should be able to download it to the fire. if the movie is downloaded you don't need a wi-fi connection to play it.

I have purchased 4 movies for my Kindle. It says I "own this movie" but it only works when I am near Wi Fi? Why is this? What do I need to do?

Have you actually downloaded the movies to the Fire? They have to be on the Fire in order to watch them without wifi.

It says that the movies are downloaded. I have tried on device and on cloud and they say downloaded on both. I can play or delete the movie.

Are you looking at the cloud, or device. If it is not showing in the device view, it is not downloaded.

A. Domian says:
It is showing under both cloud and device. There is a green check mark on the movies.

If you purchased it, and it is showing as downloaded on the device, you should be able to play it without the wi-fi being turned on.

Has anyone who actually owns a Kindle watched an amazon movie/tv show when not connected to a network? Even if I start playing a downloaded movie and then move out of wifi, the video stops playing.
