Amazon does not set the price of ebooks. The publishers do.

I lost you? I never knew I had you? I'm not even sure I even ever wanted you!

Search this forum for Agency agreement, and also the US Justice Department action.

It's a very long story!

As GnomeEd said, those prices are not set by Amazon, they are set by the publishers. Amazon usually puts a comment just under the price in these cases "This price was set by the publisher" and names the publisher.

There is still good reading to be found at reasonable prices, even free. Look for the threads on freebies, there are some excellent Indie books on offer these days.

Don't give up on Amazon, but DO give up buying books from the rip off publishers!

Sue says:

Many many people have complained about this but think of how prices have increased all over. I thinking about groceries. What I could get for $150 now cost almost $200.

If you are looking for cheaper books, go to the free book post every day. I have a lot of them and they are very good. Just like any book you can have formatting errors or spelling errors but on the whole they are very good and span over many generes. In the event you do not like the book, you can delete it and you will not have spent any money on the book.

Donald, that's not the price of *downloading*, but the price of *book*.

Good=bye, Donald. I haven't lost you either. We have a sufficiency of people who prefer whining over learning as it is.

There is no reason why you cannot continue to benefit from books in any available format that best suits your needs and budget...

Whether printed, electronic or audio, and whether purchased or borrowed, you are not locked into only one choice or format. We live in a wonderful world where we have so many options available to us!
