Just bought a Fire for my husband - mostly he loves to play games. It is registered to my account, but when I try to purchasea game, his Fire is not on of the options that I can send it to - any suggestions from this helpful group of people?

Do you have more than 2 devices registered? Have you clicked "see all devices" under the 1-click? I panicked the first time I didn't see one of our Fires on the list, but it's there!

I think you actually have to power up the Fire and complete its registration process first. Have you done that yet, or did you only just order it?

It's been a long time since I bought mine so I'm not certain, but I seem to remember that being the case.

I have several devices registered on the same acct - under the 1-click I don't see "see all devices" anyplace. The Fire is there, but I can't click on it, it's not highlighted like my other Kindles.

The only thing I did with the Fire was connect it to my wi-fi, and now it is charging. Do you like yours?

So does it say "Get now with 1-click" and then "compatibility with your devices"?

Oh, did you actually go in to the Fire and register it?

No I didn't...doesn't it come registered? It shows up on My Account as registered ( because I changes its name) ad it shows up under 1-click, but it's not in bold and won't let me click on it.

Oh! No, you don't actually click on the device. You just "buy" the game and then go to your device and download it from your app cloud.

I love it! I have an old K2, a Touch and a Fire. I do most of my book reading on my Touch. On the Fire I mostly play a few games and read the news (the PULSE app that shows news stories from various websites comes with the Fire and is terrific). Sometimes I watch movies on it. Once in a while I'll read (or continue) a book on it while waiting in the car from my son at night to come out of a martial arts program.

Be sure to tell your hubby to go every day to APPS then STORE on the Fire. There is a new free app every day, and it is usually a game.

OK, not sure what you mean. I go to the app store, try to buy the game, use the 1 click which asks what device I want the game sent to, my Fire is with my other devices but it won't let me highlight it. I have to buy the game and have it sent somewhere, right?

K. Bartholomew: Just a thought, but Active Content games that are playable on e-ink models are not compatible with the Fire. Perhaps that is what you are accustomed to using. It's best to shop for Fire games from the "appstore" directly from the Fire itself. On the Fire go to "apps", then select "Store" on the upper right side of the page. This way the games, or "apps" as they are called on the Fire will be compatible with the Fire. Glenn

Hmm...when I go to an app page, it says "get now with 1-click". When I click it, it takes me to another page thanking me for my order. It doesn't ask what device, it just lists my compatible devices. No, you don't have to have it sent anywhere.

Bob, it sounds like we will use the Fire exactly the same way. He isn't a big reader, but wanted the Fire for the games. I am trying to set it up for him for Fathers Day, but just can't buy any games. Do you buy them from 1click and send them to your Fire, just like the books for your Touch?

Ah! Glenn is probably on to something here. Active Content and apps are not the same thing. My husband's apps don't work on my eink K2 and my active content doesn't work on his Fire. Are you sure you're really in the app store?

I don't think I should have said I was in the app store - I was tryng to buy it from the Amazon website and send it to the Fire. However, it sounds like I can't do that and I have to buy the game from the Fire device itself. That makes sense, although I don't see why I can't do it from the Amazon site as well. AFter it charges I will try it from the device.

As always I get my questions answered here - thanks so much.

No, you don't have to do it from the Fire itself, you just need to be in the right place on the Amazon website.

K: It is not necessary to buy your apps directly from your Fire but it is the most simplistic way, since you already have the device in hand and registered. Glenn

K.

You don't order apps (games) for the Fire from the Kindle store, the way you do books (or some of the few games that work on the e-ink Kindles). Instead you go to the Apps for Android section.

Example: Pinball Deluxe Free -- over on the right it should show a green checkmark in front of your Fire's name as being compatible with the Fire. Above the Kindle's name and checkmark, click on the button 'Get now with 1-click'. You should get a thank you.

If you order it this way, it doesn't automatically download the way e-books do. On the Fire, you need to go to APPS then STORE, then touch the middle icon on the bottom (a box with 3 lines). It's a bit cumbersome. Sometimes you get a little notification on the Fire home screen (a number next to the name) that you can touch For that reason, I usually don't order apps using my PC...I do it directly on the Fire.

BTW...here is a good list to peruse. It's the top 100 free and paid apps for the Fire.
