Hi Mr. Hernandez,

I can't tell which Kindle model you have by that number designation. Which model is it? The basic one? Or the touch, the keyboard, or the Fire?
Your reply to Arual's post:
To insert a product link use the format: [[ASIN:ASIN product-title]] (What's this?)

Or is it an older one like a Kindle 2 or DX?

My kindle screen is half one pic and half words it's frozen
I don't see a reset button. I have tried the whole
Wait 15 seconds. I can see 1/2 screen reset
What do I do ? How do I reset? Take back off? If so how?

Contact customer service.
It sounds like you have a screen failure due to some sort of pressure or torque.
Go to Help at top of screen and follow the links.

My kindle touch D012000 is frozen on an ad picture. I figured that it might be a dead battery that needed charging. But, I have plugged it into my laptop and it won't change. It won't even show up on my laptop so I can open files there. HELP It is not even 2 months old.

Did anyone solve George Hernandez's problem (i.e. the original post in this string)? I have same problem. It's a Kindle Touch (d0 1200). Would appreciate anybody's help. Or has anybody figured out where to find a free user's manual on-line for this model? Anybody?...Anybody???

I would try a simple reset of holding down the power button for 20 seconds and then releasing. Wait for it to cycle through everything and display the home page before touching it. The factory defaults would be a last resort.

Thank you for this information, it was driving us mad trying to find a solution to this as we thought surely you must be able to control the brightness of the screen in tho day and age!

Posted on Dec 27, 2013 2:07:34 AM PST
You control the brightness the same way you do with a book. :-)

MikeJW says:
You probably have to replace it. Contact Kindle customer service to troubleshoot. Start with the help link at the top of the page.

You could try replacing the screen. I don't know what d01200 is but you can look through this list.

How do I reset the password on my kindle fire?

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 5, 2014 2:29:19 PM PST
Tim W. says:
The passcode for the lock screen? Give it a wrong code a few times and it will give you the option to restore to factory conditions. I don't think you have another option.

How do I start a book over if I have read 25% of it & don't want to reverse page by page? I have a G3D01200. Laurie

Not sure if this helps anyone but I purchased a Kindle model d01200 for my mother as a Christmas gift. I even purchased a few books and games.Recently she has had similar problems as you guys. I brought it home, did the factory reset, the 30 second restart, and refreshed my Amazon account. Then I just turned on wi fi and it started downloading all kinds of new updates. Long story short, my mom doesn't have internet so she couldn't receive any updates.I downloadedher a few more books and games.Shes happy now! Hope this helps someone.
