When I click from "Cloud" and "Device at the top of my bookshelf, I see all the same books. I'd like to know how to move most of the items that are stored on my device onto the cloud? I only need a few at a time down, see as I love reading at night and my bedroom doesn't get wifi, but I don't like having too many books take up storage.

Thank's in advace,

Rest your finger on a cover of a downloaded book. A popup says "Add to Favorites" and "Remove from Device"

Touch where it says remove from device. Since this was your most recent activity, the cover will show in the carousel, but the file isn't on the device any more. If you don't want to see it in the carousel, rest your finger on it and select "Remove from Carousel"

You can resend it from your "Manage Your Kindle" page. Carbon gave you the right advice. I keep most of my books in the cloud and just download them when I want them.

Go back to the Books screen, click on "Cloud" and find the book. Tap on it to redownload it to your device.

Got it!!

Thank's so much guys.

I just got my Fire today and LOVE it - this forum is so helpful. Sorry about my bad writing, those posts were made on the Kindle/still getting used to the keyboard.

Have a lovely week!

If in your in cloud and there is a down arrow ↓ just tap it and it will download. Switch to device and you should see it there.

I want to move purchased movies which have been downloaded onto my device (and now in my device video library) back into the CLOUD library. How do I do this?

does the kindle to device operation only work with books purchased on Amazon? I converted my pre-Kindle library (love Calibre!) and sent them individually to my Kindle via my Kindle e-mail address but they all went to the device rather than the cloud as I'd hoped. I tried deleting one testing to see if it would go to the cloud but it was deleted completely (not found on cloud) and I had to re-download it. Any suggestions?

There is the cloud that stores your amazon purchased digital matter and then there is the 5GB of storage that each amazon account holder gets for free. You can click up where it says my account then scroll down your cloud drive. From there you can upload the files. I do not believe you can send them from your kindle to the cloud but from your PC and upload.

i have a kindle, ipad and android, latter two have Kindle apps. How do I move a document from my ipad kindle to the cloud so I can read it on any device (android, kindle, and ipad)?

In reply to an earlier post on May 7, 2013 12:45:10 PM PDT
What type of document? If it's a format that the Kindle/Kindle App supports, you can use your e-mail address to get it on your Kindle and store it in the Cloud. More info:

I couldn't get my books in to folders on my new kindle fire hd. So I bought the app called bookshelf plus. I can't figure out how to move my books in to this app either. What do I do.

GrandmaJane: Is there not a help option in the menu of that app? My understanding is that it is an app -the books will not move off the Books section of the Fire. You run the app to get to a book once you set the app up with the books.

Yes but it wouldn't move the books. So I returned the app and downloaded a previous version. I'm having better luck with it.

can I move sample books to the cloud on my device? I want them moved to the cloud so I can read more books?

In reply to an earlier post on May 27, 2014 10:20:03 AM PDT
You can remove samples from your device the same way you would remove any book. The samples will not be listed in your cloud however. You can always go back to the book page and download the sample again though.
