Dog Lover says:
Stupid question: This looks like a terrific thing. I see how I could listen via my computer but (remember, I said it was a stupid question), once downloaded, can I put the "book" on my iPod? Never have used the Overdrive Media Console and am reluctant to even download it until I am certain iTunes/iPod can "see" a file.

Thanks for your patience,

DL

Kris C. says:
Dog Lover, on my computer, the files downloaded to the "My Media" folder in My Documents. I then open iTunes and under the file menu "Add Folder to Library" and move it that way. The books can then be loaded onto your iPod. I think you can also set the default download folder to iTunes.

Thanks!

I played around with it and I can download directly to the iPod. I have issues with the iPod/iTunes (my own ignorance, I'm certain but the Apple help feature doesnt', er, "help.") So - you've been great! I couldn't figure out how to get the book FROM the iPod to iTunes. Because the iPod is so full, I need to be able delete stuff from the device but still keep in on my computer. I'm able to do that from audible.com very easily because that site downloads to iTunes rather than to the device. The complication has been moving them to a different computer (I travel some.)

You may have solved that problem as well!

Thanks again.

Sorry I wasn't clearer. I went to the audiobookssync site and tried to download an audiobook after signing in and nothing happened even tho it said it was starting the download. I wondered if there was an app I neededto get.

Doriegirl, first you need to make sure that you have the OverDrive Media Console on your Kindle Fire. Go to overdrive dot com and they'll have a link on that site to get the console without having to have the Google Play market. Once you've installed OverDrive on your Fire, go to the audiobooksync dot com website and click on the link for this week's free books. Pick which book you want and it'll ask you to sign in. Then it'll give you a download link for the book--that will automatically launch the OverDrive Media Console and download the audio book.

How did you manage to answer my question before I asked it?!? (*cue spooky music*)

ETA: Hmmmn... nope. I installed the Overdrive thingummy and downloaded both of this week's titles, but the Fire tells me "Cannot Open File" ... pewp.

Edit edit: I'm a dumb bunny. Replacement Fire had outside apps blocked; forgot to unblock them. Trying again... (*facepalm*)
Edit edit edit: YAY! It worked! This will be very cool for the boy child while we're on vacation. :0)
