is the new "Kindle panel view" useful for reading comics on an ordinary Kindle when all the comics available must be read on a Kindle Fire ?

I don't think non-Fires can display comics, and I haven't heard or read that there was an update to any other Kindle device that allows panel view.

Thanks for the answer, Blaiz.
My Kindle was updated a few hours ago and I had along with it the information about the new software: panel view, dictionaries regrouped, ...
Perhaps they upgrade every Kindle even if the comics can't be read on an ordinary Kindle ? They ought to upgrade only the Kindle Fire with the option "panel view" in that case.

Yves, I didn't know about the panel view upgrade to other Kindles. I'd go with their information, not mine. If you buy a comic book and you don't like it, you can return it for a full refund within 7 days of purchase.

CBRetriever says:
It was the update for the Basic Kindle:

Support for children's books with Kindle Text Pop-Up and comic books with Kindle Panel View (which allows you to read a comic book panel by panel). Books that support these features will be available in the Kindle store over the next few weeks.

Improved table and image viewing (panning and zooming) on supported titles.

Amazon upgrades Kindle apps for comics, childen's books

Look out, we are in for another update!

I wish that they would send us an email, when we are going to be affected. Not that I have had a problem with Amazons update for my Kindle Fire. But it would be really nice to have some advance warning. At least I have updates shut off. Until I know what is happening.

That means there aren't any yet, right ?

well, that was quoted from several weeks ago, so there may be some now

Well searching for comics supporting "kindle panel view" doesn't bear much fruit. If I had the Kindle Fire, there would have been more possibilities.

Thanks for the link ...
but I've done that very same research.
And all the comics here listed can be read only with Kindle Fire or Kindle Cloud Reader or Kindle for I-Pad or Kindle for Android.
No comics for the ordinary Kindle.

Would be nice if Marvel Essentials or DC Showcase presents were available on Kindle. No need for color then.

If reading a comic through the Cloud Reader, how do you zoom in on the panels?

In reply to an earlier post on Aug 1, 2012 8:22:38 AM PDT
Double click the panel that you want to zoom and then turn the pages to view the next panel in zoom.

By the way, any news about panel view comics for Kindle e-ink devices? yves, did you find any panel view comics for e-ink Kindles?

Thank you M. U. Karakaplan! I've been on the Kindle help pages and the Amazon forums for over 30 minutes trying to figure out how to keep it in enlarged panel view. If this information was anywhere obvious, I missed it. But thanks to you and this post, I (finally) now know. :)
