Kindle Touch troubleshooting (Thanks Amazon!)

I got a kindle touch for Christmas and since I work security on the graveyard shift I have been LOVING it. I was horrified to discover last night that my screen had frozen on the screensaver and that my USB connection wouldn't acknowledge my KT at all. I just got home and tried to find a solution via google (no luck) so I logged into amazon to try and find a customer service number and on the troubleshooting page was a quick video which instantly fixed my problem!

I have to say, I am seriously impressed with Amazon. A few months ago I tried to set up a website using GoDaddy and it was awful. Nothing but a huge runaround from them, hours spent on the phone, then random charges on my credit card for the next month even though I told them repeatedly to stop charges and remove my cc info.

I've bought a number of books for my KT so far and I have to say that Amazon may be the best company I've dealt with online. No hour long hold times, no unwanted cc charges, exceptionally well designed troubleshooting page. Thanks Amazon!

By the way, if your screen ever freezes try holding down the power button for 20 seconds then releasing. Worked like a charm for me:)

Thanks so much for the tip - I was sad to find my FT froze in the screen saver position and couldn't figure out how to fix it and your tip worked. TG for google!

I do a lot of web development and I have to work with a lot of different domain registrars and web hosting companies. A lot of my clients are with Godaddy and while I know their control panel, it's really confusing.

They aren't the best, just the most well known. I often recommend namecheap.com (easy to use interface and they don't hassle you or upcharge like crazy).

my kindle touch screen froze and got this message: "the selected application could not be started. please try again". i tried turning the machine off and when i turned it on again, i still get the same message.

Thank you so much for the tip! My KT would not go back to the home screen so I could read a book I just bought and your solution worked! TG for Google and Amazon!

I'm trying to download a book in archive to a newly registered kindle touch, and it's stuck in "pending" mode. I first moved it from mine to another without moving it to archive. I'm not sure if that matters. Nothing I do can fix it. HELP!!!!! This is registered to my daughter's email who is out of the country and will not see. THANK YOU!!!

I am a little unclear how you tried to go about this. If you tried to move it from one kindle to another it won't work.

Are you hooked up to wifi and can you look in the Touch's archives for the title?

Thanks for the tip on the email. I first had tried to move from one to the other and it showed pending. Then I realized what I did, and I moved from mine to archive and then from archive to the kindle. It still shows pending, and is completely stuck like that. yes, im hooked up to wifi

My Kindle Touch is unable to connect to wi-fi. I have updated software and turned off the Touch for a cold re-start. Wireless is turned "ON", but no networks are available. I have no trouble with wireless on any of the other devices in my home. Any suggestions?

Kindle touch does not have a position sensor. You have to choose from the menu when you want to view a book in Landscape mode.

Text-to-Speech Stop Working?

Hi Kinde Suppport I have got a kindle touch with Wi fi .I was using Text to speak with a book that I am now currently reading .It work great! On till I press the pause button at the bottom of the sceen .I press the pause button to replay the text-to-speech and it did`nt work .I also when to the menu tool bar at the top of the sceen were I turn it on and off the text-to-speech.It still has not come on again .I also turn the unit on and off at the base . The text to speech still has`nt work, I can`t hear a sound from the unit . I am about %60 through reading the book . Can you please asist me on how to restore this function ?

Text-to-Speech is Working now

To answer my own question. I when to Youtude type this in the search box. Kindle Text to Speech Stopped working - Fix

.Their is a man explain partially what to do ? I would suggest that you mark the page number where you are reading . Because went you reboot the Kindle Touch you will`nt be on the same page .To reboot the kindle press the menu bottom and hold down the on/off button at the same time for twenty seconds.This will restore you to the mian menu screen . Where you can access your books from the menu. Text-to-Speech should be ok after this good luck .

I would like to thank the man for You tude and myself lol .

@ Mrs Shiela - are you clicking the menu button on the top right hand corner of the screen (tapping the top of the screen to pull up search bar etc then selecting menu)? I've a kindle touch and to get back to my main screen (with books or collections) i hit the button in the bottom middle (four horizontal lines on the grey body of the device)
