There are various apps for security on Android devices; I use one called Lookout. We'll need to wait and see if this app (or any other) is supported on the Fire.

Also keep in mind that a number of antivirus apps that are freebies really don't work well at all, per this recent article:

I use Kaspersky on my android and on my pc and it is the best I have found yet. This was highly recommended to my 3 yrs ago at Best Buy and it is great. Buy 1 year and then when it is time to renew buy it direct from Kaspersky because they will give you a great discount for additional years and that way you will not have to re-install it. Love the product.

i am running Kaspersky Tablet Security on my kindle fire. You have to download it from the Kaspersky website. Once you download it, you have to use a Free App called "File Expert". install file expert and navigate to the "SD Card" contents folder on the Kindle Fire and there Kaspersky will be. One touch and it installs in seconds. There is a youtube video showing how to install apps on a kindle fire.

thanks for these instructions--they worked but need a bit more detail. For example, once you install the File Expert you have to then turn off the default setting that doesn't allow non Amazon apps to be installed so you can install kaspersky. if you follow the kaspersky install wizard it will tell you this and take you directly to the setting. turn it "off" install kaspersky and then turn it back "on" if you want. the file expert does some other handy things too, so not a bad app to get anyway.

It's well to keep in mind that viruses on tablets are still pretty rare. Offhand, and I can't document this, I'd say you're more likely to get a virus on your PC with full protection measures in place than you are on your tablet with no protection.

I'm sure that will change in time but for the present there's not much to worry about.

Kindle Fire HD 7", Dolby Audio, Dual-Band Wi-Fi, 16 GB - Includes Special OffersI also installed Kaspersky Tablet Security using File Expert as recommended above. My first venture into the tablet arena so I was pretty pleased with myself. Before I found the instructions above I did send an email to Kaspersky Technical Support and I was very surprised when I got their reply - Kaspersky Tablet Security is NOT compatible with the Kindle Fire HD. THis was despite their sales rep telling me it was ideal. I use Kasperky on my home PC so I was really pleased when I had the option to use it on my Kindle - they have offered a refund but I am concerned about the un-install process and just how to do it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I purchased a Kindle Fire for my wife and I want to install Kaspersky Tablet Security. I downloaded the free trial but I am stuck because the app asks me to activate the device administrator but when I try to do it in the security section although Kaspersky shows there the check button is greyed and I can't do anything. Thx.

Can someone please help me? I tried downloading kaspersky internet security on my kindle fire hd. It downloaded quickly but the page that asks me to run it does not pop up??

Good question. I just received a new Kindle Fire, and would like to put Kaspersky on it as I have already purchased several licenses which have 673 days remaining. I'm not sure how to use one on my Kindle, and the File Expert listed in this forum is no longer available for download. Can anyone help me with this????

Open a support ticket with Kaspersky on one of your devices currently running it and ask them. They'll get back to you via e-Mail quickly.

You don't say whether or not you're currently using PC compatible or Android versions, but I do know you need the mobile version. Now whether or not the Android version is compatible with your Fire, I have no idea--I use Malwarebytes on my Fire and Kaspersky on all my Windows gadgets.

There has never been a virus reported on the Android operating system. Malware, yes.
