OK, got my daughter a Kindle Fire for Christmas, but it does not come with an AC adapter. So, I try to order one, but they do not ship them to APO addresses! Are you kidding me? It is a US address! I am almost done with Amazon, should have gotten her the Nexus 7.

You have an extended time to return Kindles during the holiday season. Please, by all means, do what you must.

Alternately, the Fire does come with a USB cable, which can be connected to a computer to charge the device.

But why will Amazon not ship the charger to an APO when I try to order it? It makes no sense.

From the Help pages:

<Warranty issues and manufacturer restrictions prevent us from shipping certain products to all geographical locations. In addition, some items too big to ship to a P.O. Box or an Amazon Locker must be shipped to a street address. You'll be notified while placing your order if we're unable to ship specific items to the address you've selected. Please also check the product detail pages for any item-specific shipping restrictions.>

Only the charger is small and is not restricted from being shipped to a PO Box. Not having a good experience.

The applicable part is "Warranty issues and manufacturer restrictions prevent us from shipping certain products to all geographical locations."

There are many things that cannot be shipped to APO addresses. The final destination is unknown to the shipper and there are restrictions in certain countries. This is nothing new. It was the same 30 years ago when my boyfriend was stationed in Turkey. There are many things my daughter cannot send to her husband in Afghanistan today.

Actually, it doesn't do you much good to rant and question here. We're just other customers. If you're really upset with Amazon, you probably should tell Amazon direct. And, if you really think that the Nexus 7 is a better choice, go for it!

You know, of course, that you're going all Nancy Kerrigan on other CUSTOMERS!

As far as the APOs...could it be that the AC adaptor is for US current? Once they ship to the APO, Amazon has no control over where it's going...240 volt? DC current?
