This is my first tablet and I was waiting for this version to come out.My question is should iI look into some protection for the screen like a "ghost armor" or something of that nature? I am not sure how the screens hold up to wear and tear over time (under normal usage) and I want to know if I should invest some money into protection for the screen.

Any thoughts appreciatted.

IMHO, no.

I've put a screen protector on most of my devices and have not seen much of a difference. That said, I have decided not to place one on my fire HD 7, nor will I place one on the 8.9" model, either. I'm also not very clumsy and rarely lose control of my devices. Once placed into a nice cover, I find that my kindles are very well protected.

Sarida says:
It depends.

Will children be using it? Will you travel with it? Will you carry it room to room while doing housework? Will you take it back and forth to work? Will you use it for recipes in the kitchen? Do you have a pet?

If the answer is "yes" to any of those questions, I'd seriously consider it.

If it is just going by your bed to play a few games or read before sleeping, then no, you don't need one.

But I'd never put one on an eink reader.

Another consideration would be glare. Some of the screen protectors offer some help with glare. If you think you might read or play outside, then you might consider one for it. I'm talking about the Fire, not e-enk readers. You can change to brightness on backlit screens to your liking on the Fires. I agree with Sarida, no need on an e-ink, and a screen saver changes the ease of reading (spoken from experience).
