I'm having an issue moving a book from the cloud to my device and I can't figure out how to do it as I'm not always near WiFi in order to access the cloud. Can one of you fabulous folks help me out?

Simply go to the cloud page for books on the Fire and tap on the book you want to download and it should download automatically if you are connected via wifi.

I assume you mean you want to download a book in your Kindle account (Called archive on kindles, and cloud on the Fire and apps) when you do not have WiFi available.

1) Go to your book library on the Manage Your Kindle page here =>

2) find the book you want in the list.

3) Click on the "Actions..." button on the right side of that book's row in the list.

4) Click on "Download & transfer via USB"

5) Select the Kindle (by name) in the drop down list your are shown.

6) Click on the "Download" button.

7) It will then download the book to your PC/Mac. This file will only work on the Kindle that you selected in the drop down list. It won't work on the PC or any other kindle/app.

8) Connect the Kindle to your PC/Mac using the USB cable. The Kindle will now be treated like any other type of memory stick or hard drive you connect to the computer. If it is a PC then you should be given an option to open up the drive. Do that. If it did not do that then open up "My Computer" and double click on the drive called "Kindle". On a Mac it will mount the drive and show it in the upper right corner of the screen. Click on it.

9) Move or copy the file to the Kindle. On the Fire you will want to put it in the Books directory. On the eInk Kindles it should go in the Documents directory.

10) Eject the Kindle from your computer (right click on drive and select eject for example) and then remove the USB cable and you are good to go.

I just purchased an IPod touch. Have downloaded and installed the Kindle App for it. It downloaded all my books into the Cloud. How do I get them from the cloud into the device. I'd like to go on the road or walking with my books. If I can't do that, what's the use of it?

I've been using Kindle for PC, and up until now have had no problem moving books to my device, for when I want to read and am not connected to Wi-Fi. Suddenly it doesn't work anymore, I just get a 'pending' msg and nothing happens. I've moved most of the books off my device, so I know it's not a storage space issue, anyone have any ideas?

Oh, and does anyone have any tips for creating and icon on the desktop screen for Windows 8.1, so I don't have to use the charm on the main page? The charms don't seem to support the full functions of the apps like the desktop version does.

Just click on the book titles and they download.
