Whispersync for Voice not syncing to audible app

Amazon customer service, normally so great, is a joke on this. No one I've talked to has a clue about what whispersync for voice even is...and don't get me wrong, Amazon usually has the best customer service in the world, IMO. I've chatted, I've called, but I don't have time to explain to them what they advertise and promote (I have told them to go to, look up Wool, and see the lavish splash pages devited to Whispersync for voice.

Several Amazon CS people have said they'd "research" the problem and get back to me but I've never heard from them

On posts elsewhere, I've tried:

deleting the Audible app and reinstalling
deleting the book from the app and and Kindle and the iPad and re-downloading from the cloud
manually syncing every time I finish reading on a device

But so far nothing has worked. Any insight into this would be appreciated.

I also completely agree regarding the customer service. Audible CS, normally also top-notch, was also terrible. The first time I called they thought I was talking about the Immersion Reading and told me that my Kindle Paperwhite was not compatible with Whispersync for Voice. A phone call to Amazon made me feel as if they had never heard of Whispersync for Voice before. I literally had to direct them to the Amazon webpage and show them where it stated that I should be able to read with Kindle Paperwhite and Listen with Audible for iPhone. Eventually, they just transferred me back to Audible. Nothing was really resolved.

Needless to say, I still don't have a complete solution. I appreciate that it works from my Audible App to the Kindle, but it would be even better if it worked in both directions.

I gave up on the support and just decided, 'well, I got some good deals on audiobooks, even though the app doesn't work, no one at Audible or Amazon knows ANYTHING about it, and the customer support is completely nonexistent. Though it's working now (again, I've no clue why), now I just get the best deal on an audiobook, which is often the MP3 CD, and count the syncing as a potential advantage (cause who knows when it'll break again and no one at Audible or Amazon really seems to know anything or care about this (potentially AWESOME) service.
