I've down loaded an e-book from a public library. But it isn't under "Books". Only two Oxford Dictionaries are there. Where can I find it?

Which Kindle do you have, Rozegarden?

Is your wifi on? Did you Sync your Kindle?

When I get mine it takes me to an Amazon screen that I can download via WiFi. If you did not get that, check the web site under your Amazon account manage you kindle . you see all of your books and can send to your device from there. You can also return from that same screen when you are done. Good luck.

What steps did you take to get the book from the library?

Kindle fire hd.
wifi on.
What dose "Sync you kindle" mean?

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 26, 2012 7:45:27 PM PST
Sync is like your Kindle Fire HD phoning Home. If anything happened on the server end (ie a purchase or a library book borrow from you) syncing puts that info and your book on your Kindle

I don't have an HD Kindle, so I'm not sure how you sync. I would think you'd do it by swiping down from t he top and clicking on "Sync"... if not, I am sure someone will be along to say how to do so

Again, what did you do on your library's Overdrive site? Did you make sure you picked the "Kindle" (not ePub) version of the book? If you got the ePub version by mistake, you'll have to go to the Overdrive website (overdrive dot com) and download the Overdrive Media Console to read the ePub version on your Fire.

If you went through the proper steps (checking out the book on your library's site, clicking "Get for Kindle," which would have directed you to Amazon, clicking "Get library book" button [which shows up for library borrowing instead of the "Buy" button]), the book should be on your Carousel on the Fire. Or, at the very least, in your Cloud (you should see it when you tap "Books" and then "Cloud").

I went to a library online, picked out an e-book with a Kindle format. Then was asked if I wanted to: OPEN,OPEN IN NEW TAB,OPEN IN BACKGROUND TAB,BOOKMARK LINK,SHARE LINK,COPY LINK URL,or to SAVE LINK. I clicked "open".Then I was asked if I wanted to BORROW or ADD TO WISH LIST, or BUY IT NOW. I clicked BORROW. Then I clicked BOOKSHELF. When I went to BOOKSHELF, sure enough it was pictured there. However, when I got out of library web site and clicked on Books at the top of my home page, I could only see the two Oxford books.

After you clicked the "Borrow" option, when you went to your BOOKSHELF, there should be a button by the title that says "Get for Kindle." If you click that button, you will be taken to the Amazon site, where you will complete the loan and actually get the book sent to your Kindle. You must click that "Get for Kindle" link while you're on your *library's* website, or you won't actually complete the entire procedure so you have a copy of the book downloaded to your Kindle.

Wonderful! You were very helpful flipoid :) The problem was that I did not go far enough when I did not click on the "get for Kindle".
All done with a book that I can access on my Carousel. Thank you

You are quite welcome, Rozegarden. I had a feeling you were skipping the "Get for Kindle" step. (-:
