First Fire HD, dead pixels. Replacement, even MORE. I give up.

My first Fire HD 8.9 had dead pixels, so I got a replacement and it has even more of them. I give up. Maybe I'll try again with next year's model. Just posting as a warning to examine for dead pixels when you buy one. I find an actual menu-less Kindle book works best.

First time I've heard of dead pixels on a Fire HD

What, pray tell, is an "actual menu-less Kindle book"?

A kindle book without any of the menus showing so you can check for pixel issues on a full screen light background. There were some annoyances I had with the device as well, so I didn't want to keep playing panel lottery. Happy to hear some of you don't think you have dead pixels. I have a feeling you just haven't spotted them yet if you're not overly detail oriented. (i.e. perfectionist)

If I have to SEEK OUT imperfections, then they're not really there. Kind of like, "If a tree falls in the forest, and there's no one around, does it make a noise?"

Does it matter? No one's around. So who cares?

So that begs the question, if you can't tell you have dead pixesl, does it even matter?

Something is pixelating, somewhere.

what makes you think everyone has dead pixels on their Fire?

I have not seen one dead pixel on the multiple KF-HD's i've purchased. Granted I had to return several for different problems but none had a stuck or dead pixel.

Trust me on this one. If KF HD 8.9 screens had dead pixels, customers would be screaming bloody murder.

They are either there or they are not. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see them.

Edit for spelling

Thanks for the warning. I just checked mine, and it's perfect.

But you have superior dead pixel spotting ability. I see (pun intended). Yeah. Gotcha. <smh>

I have what I think are dead pixels on my HD Fire 8.9 as well. While playing Draw Something I've noticed there are spots that will not let me draw in them with my stylus. If I use my finger in the same spot it is a 50/50 chance it works, but nonetheless I still can't get the detail that I'm wanting to in the drawing. Something else I've noticed is it seems the dead spots come and go. There were two other places on the drawing surface that wouldn't let me draw in them, but now seems fine. I've tried a couple different drawing programs and the same spots are still dead, so I know it's not the program or app. Doe anyone have an advice on what I can do about this?

Thanks in advance
Jason

I would call Amazon, since your Fire is under warranty.

I got a Fire HD 8.9" on Saturday. It has 3 dead pixels on it. Amazon is replacing it. My 7" version at work that we use for testing, has a dead/stuck red pixel on it. My wife's kindle is perfect. So, 2 of 3 that I have had in my possession have had dead pixels.

I just got my Kindle Fire HD 8.9 last week, and have the same issue with Draw Something. If I use something other than the fine drawing setting, the spot gets covered.
