Just wondering...

I've had my K1 for 2 years now and love it, no plans to upgrade, BUT....
The scroll wheel has started to have an issue. On the home page, I can scroll up but the cursor jumps to the top with just a flick of the wheel. When I try to scroll down I spin and spin the wheel and the cursor flickers up and down but takes me forever to get it on the book I want to open. I'm pretty sure it's not the wheel, as it spins freely without impediment. It is really frustrating when I try to get the cursor to stop on a certain book or blog, etc. Anyone else with a K1 have this issue?

The Blade says:
How old is your battery?

The K1 does weird things when the battery starts to weaken. My Mom's K1 wheel started to act similar to yours when her battery began to fail. Don't know that this is the same problem that you are having, but K1 batteries seem to have about a 2 year life span and a K1 begins to act strangely when the battery loses strength.

We have 3 K1s in the family and all 3 acted oddly, but differently, when the batteries needed replacement. If you are still on your original battery, I'd give a replacement a shot. That worked for my Mom's K1. :-)

My k1 did the same thing, You can patiently work around it (but it is a PIB). I do not know for certain, but I wondered if the scroll wheel worked the way the old computer mice with rollers inside instead the current red light models do. Then we used to frequently pop the ball out and clean the cavity with compressed air and the crud that built up on the rollers with a pencil eraser (honest!). The only thing that I found would help my k1 scroll wheel was carefully holding the k1 vertical and blowing compressed air around it. I called kindle customer support and they indicated that they had no ideas. I used it for a year after this started. I now use my k1 as a loaner for friends and own a kdx2i and kindle for droid app. (to put it simply, not my problem anymore)

How do you "pop the ball out" to clean it??
