Is there a "shortcut" to delete books from my Touch? I know on my KK, I pressed the left arrow of my multi-directional button and it ould come up with "remove from device".

B. P. Page says:
Hold your finger down on the title and you will be presented with a contextual menu. Remove from device is a choice at the bottom of that menu.

it doesn't give me a 'delete' option, only to move to 'archive'. what gives??

J. Dilbeck says:
If it's a book you purchased, and it's not just a sample, then "archive" is the same as deleting for the purpose of the kindle. The book is removed from the device, but remains "archived" in your digital purchases list at Amazon.

I clicked to archive the books I have on the Kindle Touch, but instead of removing it from the kindle it remained in the archived folder. It will not allow me to remove from this folder. Is there another step that I missed? I really need these books to be gone from this kindle, because it was purchased for my son and I inadvertently synced my data when it was registered.
Please help

If you are seeing it in the archive folder, it means that the book is part of your account, but it isn't on your Touch. The archive shows you all of the books you own. If you want to remove a book permanently, you can do it through Manage My Kindle on the website, but then you would need to repurchase the book if you ever want to read it again.

Holding on the book title does nothing. Unable to delete individual titles.

Ok. Here's another question. When I registered my new Kindle Touch my entire archive showed on the screen, many, many books. How do I delete them all from the home screen in one fell swoop? A thousand books on that tiny screen is a bit much. Deleting them one by one is also a bit much. Any shortcuts?

When I go to the archive folder I see all the books I put in there. When I go to click on the books it says downloading
then it goes to my home screen with the book I just clicked on out of the archive folder. How do i delete permanently????

 Ann says:
The 'Archive' on a Kindle is just a list of the books in your account, that are NOT currently loaded onto the device. They're not taking up any space until/unless you click on / tap on a book to download it. There's no need to delete archived books from a Kindle.

If you want to delete a book from your account (permanently), you can only do that from your 'Manage Your Kindle' page ( ).

christine, on the right side of the page there should be an "Actions" button. If you mouse-over the button you should get a pop up that has Delete as an option. If you are not getting anything then you may need to change your browser settings to allow scripts from

Are you trying to permanently delete a book from your account? If so click the action button on the title and take the Delete from library. That is a permanent delete so if you or someone else on your account wanted to access it again it would have to be repurchased.

Well, yes, I can (painfully) delete one item (permanently) at a time from Manage My Kindle but one can't select MORE THAN ONE. This is very, very annoying when one has a bunch of separate titles (say the Oz series) and then buys an anthology. One of the particularly annoying things is that it insists on refreshing the whole screen immediately after the delete which is NOT FAST and doesn't even remember what page you're on.

Another somewhat related gripe is that you CAN sort by author, but if you then delete an item it will refresh and go right back to sorting by title. This is by far one of the least intelligent designs I've ever seen. I have been a programmer by profession and I've never implemented something quite this kludgy.
