How do you put dvds on the kindle fire hd?

Posted on Dec 15, 2012 4:15:51 PM PST
You have to convert the DVD to MP4 format first. Then you can copy the MP4 file from your PC to your Kindle with a USB cable. Put the MP4 file into the VIDEO directory on your Kindle. Then, on your Kindle, tap the star icon in the lower right hand corner. Then, tap the icon that looks like a gate.

What is a good dvd converter?

Many users like DVDCatalyst. I use Daniusoft DVD ripper, which is a little more expensive.

Are there any free programs to put movies on kindle fire hd?

There might be free dvd rippers out there, but you get what you pay for. DVDCatalyst is only $10 I believe.

Kindle Fire HD vs the Kindle Fire HD 4G Wireless? Is the only difference one has 4G wireless connectivity and the other does not?

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 15, 2012 5:24:01 PM PST
If you are talking about the 8.9 model, yes, that's the main difference.

Is there any way to label or title movies (MP4's) I have placed in my "movies" folder? The "Personal Videos" app only shows an icon of a scene, no title or label data.

If you long press on the video, you will get an option to see more details. You can also use an app like Es File Explorer to view you video by title and you can launch them from there.

Yes I just order one without 4G. I live in country and we are lucky to get 3G around here. So I decided wifi was for me anyway. Thanks...

I just got a Kindle Fire HD 7" and there are no "movie" or "video" folders to place movies. Is this common? Where are the movies that I have on my computer to be transferred to?

sinewavelife says:
Hey barryk: hook up your KFHD to your Windows computer, then click the "computer" tab and you'll see the Kindle designated as a portable device. Double-click it and it will open to "internal storage." Double-click "internal storage" and it will open to display a list of folders (Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures, etc.). You can drag-and-drop from your computer to the file folders. You might get a warning message, but if the file is a compatible format, it will be just fine when you open it on the KFHD.

Patrick, long-press on one of the icons and an information box will pop up with the title. I don't even use the PersonalVideo app, I use ES File Explorer navigate to the Video folder, and it shows the full file name of each video. Just tap on a video to play it.

ETA: Oops, I see Laura gave the same advice yesterday. Sorry! (I did include the link to ES File Explorer though, in case it helps.)
