Amazon does have a "trade in" program, but be aware that it's run by a third party and you're likely to get much more selling your Fire yourself.

I did use the trade in program on Amazon, and it is true, I would have likely received more had I sold it myself on ebay or Amazon. It was certainly in anyone's judgement, like new. But it was judged to be what I submitted it as; good. It didn't have the sticky plastic screen protector, that I *think was there when it was delivered.

I just felt it was less of a hassle than selling on my own. I would have felt personally responsible, had my previously perfectly performing Fire, suddenly failed. And it might have cost me much more in the long run.

Oh, and if anyone is wondering...the new Kindle Fire HD did *not arrive with a sticky screen protector. And it's lovely.

Yes. Almost anything that you purchased from Amazon will be available to download again to your new Fire.

There are some apps that haven't yet been converted to be used with the new HD models. There aren't many, and those companies are probably working on conversion now. I've seen several that were not compatible initially become compatible in the last few weeks.
