In recharging my KF I put it into my desk top with a usb to charge it like my blackberry. Even after I charged it later with the regular charger, I turn it on and it reads Kindle Fire on the screen and then shuts off. What do you think happened and how can it be fixed?

Charlie Fox says:
Re-boot your Fire. Hold the power button for 20 seconds....until the 'shut down' message is gone and the screen is black. Wait a couple of seconds...hit power on, and the Fire should reboot

Artist says:
A usb port does not have enough power to charge a Fire -- it could take 8 times longer to charge than if you use the charger that came with the Fire.

How long did you charge it using the enclosed charger?

Try a reboot: Hold the power button for 30 seconds, release the button, then wait until the Fire turns off. Turn it back on again. Charge it for the recommended time.
