Maybe you should have researched it prior to buying it.

its on an android platform there fore you would have to get android apps.it's all in the app store like any other tablet it is based on the operating systems and formats.

Bixillarla says:
Chambers, what are you talking about. The Fire is a Android tablet and Google Play is a Android app store that most Android tablets have access to.

Amazon uses a modified version of Android setup to run content from Amazon.

Amazon app store and Google Play store are both Android stores.

Wow.

How can I resist the opinion of someone who uses the language so eloquently.

Yep - certainly makes me sit up and take notice of the opinions of such an articulate and, no doubt, well-read person.

Right.

Cool. I'd personally love it if you tossed it, since you'd be out all the $$ you paid for it. IMO, that'd be tres cool.

OTOH, you also make me want to toss something - my cookies.

I personally hate my kindle fire but I got it as a gift for my mother who was so excited to get if for me.

So, return it & get something that you would like better.

After a gift is given, the giftee can do whatever they want with it.

I know exactly how the OP feels...

Once I bought a hedge trimmer, then when it would mow my lawn I threw it away!

And people here on a Kindle forum would care, why?

And if you hate the Fire you were gifted, why are you hanging in a Kindle forum? I wouldn't hang out in a forum for a device I disliked. What's the point? Oh, yeh - just to say you hate it.

Whooppee. Aren't you speshul?

Oh I wish it were that easy. Money was tight this year for her but she still wanted to get me something for my birthday. I am type that would feel guilty if I return gift after she worked so hard to get me something special. I am here on kindle forum seeing if there are any new updates to fix what I hate about it.
