It happens pretty much every time I try to change pages or when it's just sitting there with the screen saver showing.

Hard reset. Hold the power button for 30 seconds, count them (not fast). Release the power button, you should be good to go.

I actually had a problem with resetting, freezing, and being unresponsive or slow to react. I saw that in previous models it was the case causing all of those things. Did you buy the Amazon Kindle leather case? I did, but once I got it out from the case and did a hard reboot, It works fine now. They are sending me another Amazon Kindle leather case, I'm hoping that mine is a isolated experience.

Nope, no case. My KT is naked right now. I can't afford to get a cover till after Christmas. I'm going to get this cover splash SAFARI Slim-Profile Leather Case Cover fits the Amazon Kindle Touch (ORANGE) .

However, doing the hard reset exactly the way Cold In Seattle suggested took care of the problem.

I had the same problem. The device would restart randomly while I was reading and not remember the page I was on. It would take up to a minute or more for the pages to turn. The screen was frozen. However doing the 30 second hard restart seems to have solved the problems. Thanks!

This worked on mine and my kindle is finally working like it should! I put up with it for like a month! Totally drove me nuts.

I'm having the same issues with my Kindle Touch others are having with screen freezing and unresponsive, mine also is in a hard leather case, I took it out and it is still doing the same thing, Has taken as long as 5 minutes for my book to load, worked fine at first now very annoying. I received mine as a gift for Christmas 2011. I'm lost don't know what to do..

Did you try the hard reset where you hold the power button for a slow count of 30? It worked for my touch and it is still in the hard case and it has not started having the problem again yet.
Good luck ~A

Tried once with no luck, charging now and will try hard reset again. And thank you.

Mine was doing this too, and doing a reset didn't correct it. I called Kindle support and they sent me a new one. A software update came out recently. Make sure that's loaded, and if it does it again, call Amazon.

I'm having the same problem. I hope this helps. I had noticed the page turns were getting very slow, then it began restarting itself. I was ready to contact Amazon when I found this thread, so thanks for addressing my problem. If nothing else, I at least know someone else is having the same problems.

Same problem here. I hadnt used my Kindle Touch in maybe 3-4 weeks. Took it out, turned it on, and it started resetting itself. I figured maybe it was the battery, so I charged it for a while, but while charging it kept resetting itself. Found this forum thread, tried a hard reset, but it was still acting up. So I removed it from the leather lighted case, did a hard reset, and now it's working. :) Thanks everybody for the advice!

Same problem with the Touch. Super slow response times, and often would reboot when I change pages, and ALWAYS if I tried to go to a location. Tried the hard reset a couple times, no go, took my RUBBER SKIN (not the hard leather case) off and hard reset again, and everything started working.

I am not sure if it was just the 3rd hard reset that did it, or the skin being pulled up. But keep that in mind.

Got it, so the kindle works fine when you are dressed in leather, but not when you are dressed in rubber.

I've only had my Kindle Keyboard for over a year. Just within the past two months the screen will freeze or randomly re-start. I've done the hard re-start when it freezes, but it keeps randmonly re-starting and freezing. Is there anything I can do? Or will I need to buy a new one? I'd hate to have to buy a new one since it's only 14mnths old...

Bridgette, if your KK is in a cover that attaches via the clips/hinges, remove the cover. Post back...

I had the same problem with my Kindle Keyboard, restarting on its own, freezing up, taking forever to change pages, or add a book to a collection, sometimes taking up to 30 minutes....I've had mine for 16 months and I've decided to get a new Keyboard because it is so annoying and time consuming...definitely does not add to the reading experience. I hope the new one doesn't go this route because I like the Kindle Keyboard.

The hard-reset fix may be temporary. Mine started having problems again after a week or so. I called Kindle support and they replaced it. The new one has never had the problem.

Me-

How many books do you have in your archives? There are numerous threads that point out that "too many" books in your archives will cause freezing, rebooting, etc. I don't remember the magic number for problems but here is a link to one of the threads:

http://www.amazon.com/forum/kindle/ref=cm_cd_search_res_ti?_encoding=UTF8&cdForum=Fx1D7SY3BVSESG&cdMsgNo=1&cdPage=1&cdSort=oldest&cdThread=Tx3RCGHN6G7Y2HP&cdMsgID=Mx2XFUJJGGQGXE4#Mx2XFUJJGGQGXE4

I have no idea if this is what could be causing your problem but thought I should throw this out as a possibility. It seems like more and more people are reaching that "magic number" because of all the threads referencing it. Amazon is supposed to be working on the problem.

To All Touch owners,
My kindle touch worked fine after I bought it at Staples (wifi okay, books downloaded okay, operation was fine while I read them on vacation) Then, I went to connect wifi to download a new book when I got back. No wifi, kindle didn't see any networks, tried cycling wireless on / off, no dice. So, I upgraded to 5.1.0, did a "hard" reset, NO GO ! . . . . And now, I get random reboots. Called Kindle support and they are replacing the unit, but during conversation with the rep, I asked her if the airport TSA scanners could have messed up the kindle touch. She replied that they are not aware of the problems I have coming from being TSA scanned, but she did admit that other customers have had the same issues as me after letting them be scanned in their carry-on baggage. Suspicious ? You bet ! So I thought I would jump on this forum and quiz people having the same / similar problems and see if they had taken their Kindle on a recent flight. I would appreciate your thoughts and experience.
