Several retailers will have sales on them in store.... check out the black Friday net sales listings

Amazon doesn't put them on sale, some retailers have sales sometimes.

You can join "Black Friday" on Facebook or sign up for emails from their site to see in advance the sales being offered.

whatever you save will be made up by the fact that amazon doesnt charge tax and cuts the price of the rapid charger in half when you buy online, so make sure the sale price is at least 25 dollars off. I'd be surprised if you found it.

Amazon charges sales tax in most states where they have a physical presence. Regardless, the buyer still owes the sales/use tax whether or not Amazon charges it directly.

Actually, Amazon has announced on Facebook a "holiday deal on an all-new Kindle device" for tomorrow, so yes, Amazon can and does (though not often) put them on sale. ;)

I really doubt it's going to be a deal on the HD or Paperwhite models. It's likely going to be a deal for the basic model ($10-$20 off). We'll just have to wait and see!

No special deals on Kindles today (November 13, 2012) that I can see on their Black Friday deals page:

Retailers such as Target (no longer selling) BestBuy/Walmart offered a Gift Card with purchase. Kindle itself wasnt on sale.

Yes I have seen previews of black friday ads and they are showing a $40 gift card with Kindle Fire HD purchases at Best Buy.

There is a deal on the $159 Kindle Fire right now - $129 as the Amazon Today's Deals.

Surprised me.

They seem to be selling well.

Its the same deal the retailers have going for black friday only since they arent allowed to discount the price, they are giving 30$ gift cards. I've seen all the ads. Toysrus also sold out all their instore stock of kindle fires for 127 2 days ago.

Most states have now passed laws that charge online retailers tax on sales made in that state. WA state has had this law on the books for quite a while...I've been paying tax on my Amazon purchases since the '90s.

Sue says:
That is only if you admit that you bought things and did not pay tax on them. I use to do taxes professionally and it has been my experience that most people do not admit they bought things and did not pay tax on them.

Sue says:
Walmart is not selling the new Kindles. Unless this is only in WI but I heard they stop selling them there because Amazon considers Walmart a competitor.

Best buy is a nightmare on blackfriday. Nut jobs camping out overnight. Not worth 40 bucks.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 14, 2012 11:35:37 AM PST
I totally agree Lisa. I'm not going to risk my own well-being for a $20-$40 gift card. Plus, I still don't see any deals on the 8.9" models - just the 7" ones.

"Best buy is a nightmare."

Fixed that for you.

Since Amazon had a $30 deal in Gold Box yesterday on the regular Fire, I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen again. If the DX is an example, this indicates that as soon as they sell out older model, it will be retired ... as well it should be. The advances in specs far outweigh the $40 difference in the normal prices between the older Fire and the lowest end HD.
