kindle touch screen only displays tree with reader

Make sure the Touch is charged. Remove the charging cable and then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds (time it). Wait until the home screen fully loads before trying to do anything. This can take a few minutes.

If this does not work, click on help at the top or bottom of any Amazon page and then the contact us button on the next page to talk to Kindle support. I suggest using the phone for quickest result.

thanks Vickie, it didn't help though. This happened last night while it was syncing and charging and then in the morning it was just tree and reader

Then Kindle support is your next step. Usually when this happens the Touch is locked up. It will sometimes happen when a firmware update goes wrong.

Sometimes they can get it going again and sometimes they have to replace the Touch.
