Remove Books from Kindle for iPad and Cloud Reader

I have several books that show up either on the Kindle App or the Kindle Cloud Reader that I wish to remove.
However, when I go to the Amazon website to "manage my Kindle", the books do not show - probably because I tried removing them previously - but they still show on both the apps and the cloud reader.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

I don't have an Ipad but on my droid I just click and hold on the book I want to remove and a box pops up with several options including remove from device.

Thanks - but that is not the problem. (Maybe I was not clear enough.) If I have downloaded a book - either to the app or the cloud reader, I can remove it as you described.
But the books I want to remove are in my "archive" (or listed under "cloud" if using the could reader). These - when you tap and hold - only give the option of opening or downloading. But not removing from the archive/library.
Thanks anyway.

You can only permanently delete from your archive via your Manage Your Kindle page. If you remove books this way you will have to repurchase them if you want to read them again.

That is what I did - remove them using the Manage Your Kindle page - but they still appear in the Kindle App Archive and in the Cloud Reader (showing "in the cloud"). But even though they still show in the apps/reader, they no longer show on my "Manage Your Kindle" page.

Did you try to deregister and reregister the app?

Well I tried it with the Cloud Reader (the apps are not installed now) and when I re-registered the reader, all the books were still there. Thanks anyway.

Thanks for the suggestion - BUT if you read any of the previous posts, I don't have a Kindle. I am using the Kindle Apps on an iPad and iPhone4 and the new Cloud Reader. (And yes - I have tried closing the reader and reinstalling it.) Thanks anyway.

If I follow this, you deleted books from Archive first, using Manage My Kindle, but that didn't mark-for-deletion from the Cloud reader and Apps. They were orphaned. And now, when you try to remove them from the Cloud reader and apps, they won't go away. Is that it?

If so, there might be code in the Cloud reader and Apps that won't allow you to remove books from a device if it can't find the Archive record, because it wants to update the downloaded-to-devices data in the Archive record. Maybe there was data corruption in these Archive records, which were physically deleted (not just a logical deletion) because there was no record of having copied these books down to the Cloud reader and Apps.

Just a wild guess, but if that's it, Amazon Kindle Customer Service should be able to help you get this cleaned up, and they would tell their programmers to look for a possible programming bug in these apps that allowed this to happen. I suggest you contact Kindle CS.

I think it takes a while to update your archive lists on your devices. Have you tried to download or open the books which were deleted from your archive? See if you get an error message or if they are actually still there.

Donald and Jeff:
On either of the apps (iPad and iPhone) and the Cloud reader, all of which were uninstalled, reinstalled, deauthorized and re-authorized, I had no problems downloading books that I had removed from my library through the Manage you Kindle page.
Also, no problems deleting them from the apps/devices. But they were all placed back as archived items.
Thanks for trying, Steve

I am, too. Have you figured out how to remove them yet?

For me they showed until I "synced" my Kindle fire. Sync is at the top with volume, wifi, brightness etc.

Of course you have to sync, that's how it would "know" to update the Archives list.

I had the same problem as everyone here - even after deleting the books from all places, it still showed up in the cloud section and the carousel. I tried the suggestion for "syncing" and it worked.

Thanks! I just gave my twelve year old a kindle fire and to my embarrassment all my summer romance novels if you want to call them that were available to her! I was frantic to get rid of them. I kept deleting, they kept showing! Finally your simple suggestion work! Lesson learner! If I do not want her to read it neither will I from now on! Thanks!
