Suddenly my screen will no longer rotate when the Fire is rotated. I can't find a setting that affects this. Am I missing something? It worked great last night and earlier this morning.

Tap on the little Settings icon (looks like a gear) in the top right corner of the screen and you should see where you can lock and unlock the screen position.

not all apps support rotation. I downloaded the Moron Test, for example, and it doesn't rotate.

Does the silk browser support screen rotation? Mine will only display biting landscape and I checkex the settings and screen is not locked.

yes, the silk browser supports screen rotation. kindle fire is just buggy like that. it locks up on me even when im looking at the carousel. just keep it in the orientation you want and maybe it will eventually rotate.

Does the Fire have full 4-way tilt sensors? For instance, racing games where you can steer with by tilting back and forth, or Labyrinth, where you hold it flat and tip to control a ball? I can't seem to insert a product link for the app store, but search on "Labyrinth Free". I assume since it's in the app store, it works on Fire?

I was able to play Labyrinth on the Fire.

This happened to me too. I followed Simanda's advice above and turned it off & on again. That did the trick.

Video full screen does not seem to supported rotation. The botton must be on the right for full screen rotation. This is a problem for me because I often have the charger connect when using it. This requires the botton to be to the left because where the wall outlut is.

Never realized how good it would be to have the ability to NOT rotate. Sometimes I lay on my side for a bit while reading in bed, and I do not want my page to rotate to horizontal while I am holding it, y'all know what I mean, so that little button is great...as long as I remember to change it back later!! BTW, Mike, I am seriously considering a power strip by my bed to be able to plug in Fire, Kindle, phone, and light...wish there was a nice little desk or rack that would hold all three..the tangle of wires often has me reaching to the floor for one that didn't want to lay nicely and stay put, cord, that is.

I had the same problem. Turning on / off and playing with lock on the settings did not help. But, doing a complete shutdown of the unit by holding the power button for several seconds and then tapping "shutdown" fixed the problem.

Thanks Amy! I wondered what that "Lock/unlock" feature was for!

Under the settings menu the first option on the left is to lock/unlock your screen rotation. Unlock it to allow it to rotate.
