I just got the Kindle Fire today and I'm wondering how to add music to it. Do I have to get the music directly from Amazon or can I add music already on my computer to it?

You can download your existing music from your computer to the Amazon Cloud. After you do that touch the music section of the fire and you will see your music on the cloud. To transfer to the device side of the fire tap and hold music in the cloud and choose download music option this will transfer from the cloud to your device.

Also, you can side load the music from your computer. Make sure it is in a compatible format. Just plug the Fire into your computer with a micro usb cord. Then just drag and drop the music into your music folder. You do it the same way that you put it onto a mp3 player.

Search for the Amazon MP3 Uploader in the discussions. That lets you copy music from your PC, including iTunes, to the cloud

Nancy, make sure you put the music into the "music" folder on your Fire. Make sure it is mp3 format. Also, must not have DRM protection on it. If you still can't get it working with those tips, Amazon MP3 Uploader is another way to go (as someone else mentioned). It will put your music "in the cloud", then you can see your music from your Fire and either stream it from the cloud or download it to the Fire (just long press on the album name from your fire and you have an option to download). I hope one of these tips works for you.
