I like to keep more than a few books on my Android Tablet loaded in the Kindle app, and I'm really missing the ability to use Collections to organize them. Is there any chance that feature will be added soon for the Android Kindle app?

I was wondering if anyone knows how to archive books (move them to the Archive folder). All my books in my Kindle Android tablet are on the first screen. I can't seem to move them around or archive them after I've finished reading them.
Any ideas? Thanx, Trudye

From the help page ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_2200783640_android?nodeId=200495290 ) -

Open the Kindle for Android application and go to the On Device screen on your Android phone.
Tap on and hold on the book you want to delete.
Tap "Remove from device."

Ann, thank you so much for responding. My Kindle is on my Android Tablet. I have a drop down in the title bar that allows me to remove books. However I would really like to archive some of them. I can see a archive folder on my primary screen but I don't know how to move the books to that folder.
Thanx again,
Trudye

I'd like to add my vote for this. The feature works great in the Mac OS Kindle App!

Trudy use the Remove choice. When you remove a book purchased from Amazon it is removed from your app/Kindle and will show up in the archives.

The Archive is just a list of books that you have purchased from Amazon that is not currently downloaded to the device you are using.

I'd like to echo the request for the 'collections' feature on kindle for android. As i add more digital content to my devices, the ability to put book series, as well as other reference material, into collections would make it much easier to manage the content. I've got around 80 digital books in my kindle library now, and it's getting to be a bit of a hassle to manage them. Would the 'collections' feature also be available on the amazon website for managing the books as well?

thanks,
dwight.

Here's another vote for this feature. It's really needed since it's already available on Kindle for Mac and Kindle for PC. We need Android now, tablet to be more specific.

PLEASE can we get this feature. I am getting tired of the cloud controlling me, or not working properly I only have around 20 books and its already getting untidy ... I feel sorry for the guy who said he has 80!

Put some of that profit into making a much better book reader for devices - I dont want a fire, an ipad, an android and a laptop in my holiday bag!!! I might as well buy paper books and lug them if I was to do that!

Oh yes PLEASE add the collections feature to the android app. Disorganization has rendered the app useless. No room for more purchases...your loss, Amazon.

Think I'll go download the Nook reader and see how long it takes to fill it up.

I would also appreciate the collections feature on the android app. I use collections on my Kindle device but can't access them or the books in them from my tablet.

I also am eager for this feature. There is also no collection function on the website in "manage my kindle"... It would be very useful there as well. Then I could at least limit the content on my phone by putting the ones I haven't read yet into a TO-READ collection and the finished ones into the archive.

I really don't want to have to get a kindle. Not because I mind spending the money, but because I want to only have one device to haul around. Plus I do a lot of reading in bed at night while my husband is asleep and he loves that my backlit phone lets me keep the light off. It bothers him so much less that way.

Another vote - really needed, and it would be ideal to export Kindle collections to web and then import into Android.

Another heartfelt vote for collections for Kindle for Amazon tablets ... I have just bought a tablet, and already have hundreds of Kindle books ... it's totally unmanageable! I'll never be able to buy another Kindle book unless this is sorted out. (Might have to look at Google Play after all ... ) Please, please fix this, Amazon!

In my opinion, the best way to manage, sort and maintain your ebook library is by using the free Calibre library management program. For those who want to use collections with Calibre, there's also a free Kindle Collections plug-in that allows you to do so, although you don't really need it since Calibre allows you to sort and organize your ebooks by editing tags or by establishing user catagories which accomplish the same thing.

Android users should also take a look at the Calibre Companion app and consider a different ebook reader such as Moon+ or Aldiko, which will work better than the Kindle for Android app.

Here are links for all and for some useful tutorials which explain them:

Moon+ Reader Pro
Aldiko Book Reader Premium
Note: If you use Google Play, you can get free version of the e-readers in their store.

Dear Amazon,
I'd really like to see "collections" or "folders" or some other method to organize books on Kindle for Android.

Any feedback?

I know that this thread has been dormant for a while, but I am posting to keep the thread alive.

It really makes no sense that the collections function is not already on the Android app. Why on the others but not Android? I vote to have collections on kindle for Android! I mean if it makes things organized we have more room for buying more books from Amazon, it's a win win.
I love calibre but I want that option in the kindle app where it belongs.
Please!

Where did you get the idea other apps have that feature?? The only one right now that does is the PC version. Not even the new Kindle Fires being sold right now have this feature.

Amazon will not give feedback here. I doubt they have even read this post. This is a customer discussion forum.
