amazon kindle for FIRE How

There is no offer to trade your Kindle in for a Fire. You can sell back your Kindle through Amazon's trade-in program for $30-$40, but that isn't a particularly good deal.

It is not by default - you have to turn it on in your account settings. Also, when you use the Send to Kindle program there is a checkbox on the form for you to select whether you want a copy stored online or not.

Are only some books transferrable fro PC to reader ? Thx Unca willy

The Fire does have a USB port, that's how you transfer info from and to a computer, it is also how it charges, but I'm assured the OS does not support any USB connected external keyboards (Unfortunately).

I wish it could send RSS feeds onto Kindle as well.

I can't give you specifics but there are programs that will do that. I believe some people use Calibre for that purpose. Ask around a bit and I'm sure you'll find someone who can give you specific directions. I suggest you start a new topic for your question, though.

I find it interesting, no, amusing, that a Kindle which I thought is used to read books, is now being used as a mini computer like device. I refer to all but the Fire. I have two pc's, one desktop and a netbook plus this iPad2 and I imagine most Kindle owners, including the Fire, have at least a pc or Mac, so why use a Kindle reader for other than reading? I am just curious.

Have you downloaded Kindle for PC. When you do you will be asked to register ie with your Amazon email and password then all your Kindle books will be available when you open Kindle for PC. They will be archived though until you download them. It only takes a few minutes to get all your books. I hope that helps.

I have send several personal documents to my Kindle Keyboard using Send to Kindle. It works great. My question is, how do I send the documents from "Manage My Kindle" to my Android device which has the Kindle reading app? I've tried clicking on "send to my," but the Android device is greyed out. It only lets me resend to the Kindle keyboard. Does anyone know if what I want to do is possible and, if so, how to do it? Thanks.

It says you can send things "from Windows Explorer." So you can't use it while in FireFox?

You didn't read the whole sentence:

"You can send your documents using Windows Explorer or from any Windows application that allows you to print."

OH! I didn't consider FireFox to be an "application." Hmmmmm.... Guess I'll have to give it a try. THANKS.

Send to Kindle is exactly what I wanted. I hope to discover the answer to this following question soon.

I have two kindles -- with both get the file? If not, how can I direct the sender to one Kindle or the other?

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 9, 2012 3:21:16 PM PST
When you use Send to Kindle part of the process is selecting which Kindle to deliver the file to. As with most Amazon web pages, there is a drop-down box to select the target Kindle.

When you click 'Send to Kindle', you'll get an option to choose which Kindle it will go to. See instructions here - http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/?nodeId=200768410.

Unfortunately, that piece is still missing. I hope they add it soon.

I read recently that Amazon had hired someone from Microsoft to manage the development of Kindle apps. I hope that means there will be some improvements. Sending docs and also collections would be helpful; sub-collections would be great too, on Kindles and apps.

Download the Send to Kindle for PC thingy first. I've just donethat and "Send to Kindle" now appears when I right click a Word document.
