Pete, you have been around long enough to know Mr. Blonde is a troll who just likes to cause trouble.
His reputation alone is enough reason to downvote him to warn others who may not know his latest name.

Thanks Nospin, I didn't recall that and was surprised his thread copped all the flack and mine got more sensible feedback.

Again I stress to those Fire fans remember outside of the States we do not have direct access to buying the Fire and any substitutes are gladly welcomed.

Hopefully the new Kindle (Rumoured) Fire will take some lessons off the specs from this Nexus 7 tablet and shine on.

....................

Spoke to Google CS in Utah and all he could say was contact the store and no indication when our pre ordered one from Google Play would ship.

Almost AU$20 cheaper from a store 2 klms from me. So can only hope we get them long before the retailer. BUGGER!

Yeah but that is the same old blowing smoke up our rear ends to bag pre orders. Until Google announce a date I won't believe any of these stores expected delivery times.

Carol, it is the same as every other retailer selling the Nexus 7 they are all trying to get in first without actually knowing when the device will ship.

Bugger typing in the dark and not looking at the screen. Caps Lock Grrr.

GnomeEd says:
That was my basically my thought when I heard the release. It's not a game changer. It's just google entering the market. It just doesn't excite me. The Fire excited me but it it doesn't fit my needs. So I'm waiting for the next round.

Still worth it I think apart from this...

>>>>>What's more Google failed to point out that international licensing limits user's access to Google owned content outside of the US. As we mentioned earlier this week, Google Music, TV shows and magazines all fail to appear on Google Play for those outside of the States, which effectively cuts off 50% of the content users may want as part of the price.<<<<<

We already know and that is the reason the Fire is still only available to the USA market.

Sounds like the nexus 7 is DBA. Dead Before Arrival.

Yep! Knew about the OTG external storage issue and bought the 16GB nexus 7.

Using the Cloud outside your country will not effect your home internet providers bill in anyway at all. Plus these days the World is crawling with WiFi Hotspots.

I know we can wait for the next model but why spend half your life waiting when you can enjoy now?

The lack of SD card reader does not concern me with 16GB and the Cloud. External storage, again the Cloud.

The lack of access to movies and some other stuff in the Google Play store is a pain in the proverbial but for me personally not a great worry either.

...and the Kindle app runs well on it!

That is just my take on my usage of the device and appreciate others have more needs though.

Not with the amount of pre orders it has received so far!

Carol A. Anderson says: Using a cloud out of your country can give you a heart attack when you get home from vacation and open your wireless bill

.......................

Why?

As I said earlier...
Using the Cloud outside your country will not effect your home internet providers bill in anyway at all. Plus these days the World is crawling with WiFi Hotspots.

Not if they get canceled/returned/refused delivery like Carol's! ;)

But, I was really just talking about Carol's being DBA, not all of them. I am sure you will still get one and I really do hope it works out better for you than the last 3 tablets you have tried.

I was about to say just two Android tablets but then remembered the HP Touchpad. :)

1st. A Flytouch3 10" resistive screen tablet. Slow in it doesn't respond that well. Too big and heavy for my style of use. Still have it but rarely used these days.

2nd. HP Touchpad 32GB. Fast, responsive but too heavy again. Not to worry paid $148 new, played with it for a couple of weeks and sold it for $300 on pickup at my front door.

3rd. Ramos W17 Pro 7" capacitive screen tablet. Currently according to China Post tracking just cleared and about to be despatched to me back in Oz. This is a replacement after the first had a problem with the card reader. Replacement hopefully has had Google Play enabled. The first wasn't too bad except for not being able to use Google Play.

4th. Nexus 7 when it arrives in the next couple of weeks I hope.

Many on forums here have cancelled their orders from Google simply to save $20 picking it up from a local store. We people that pre ordered first thing have been told it is too late (Like Carol) and can only hope we receive ours before the stores do.

Noticed an ad for a large retail chain asking $319 for them today...

LOL
Make that 5 if you count my Android HTC cell phone. 4.3" screen.
