I have 2 Kindle Touch and they don't have speakers but they do have TTS so the Paperwhites probably do also. If you look at the specs not for the cheapest Kindle or Kindle Touch they do not specify TTS in the specs.

The 4G version will only give you 250MB of data usage. That is not enough to even watch half of one movie at standard definition.

The 1 yr plan for 4G for $50 is awesome! Will it be more than that in subsequent yrs?

250MB a month. Not 25MB.

You have 30 days to return it! So return it and buy a new one.

And can I download and run Swype? I'm not liking my Xoom, but it does use Swype.

It says in the description there's a camera. Look under the Skype information.

Flash is no longer supported on Android. You only have it if you installed it in the past.

"it's another $130 for a comparable 4G device."

They're really clearly hoping and expecting people to buy a new tablet every year with this price scheme.

You should have done your research before making a purchase. Everyone and their dog knew that new kindles were going to be out in the Fall. All the major tech blogs were screaming it out for months. Obviously you couldn't be bothered to Google.

Is the only difference between the 7" and the 8.9' the screen size? Was thinking of getting the 8.9' but if that is the only difference then I will go with the lower price tag.

Any ideas if and when the Paperwhite will be available in Germany?

If it is just a software thing, lets get HDMI - In too, not just out!

I was wondering the same thing. I would love to trade in my Kindle Fire and K3 just to get the new one. My Fire is less than a year old and my K3 is less than 2.

I want the Kindle Touch!! I don't want a back light- I'm still afraid it will hurt the eyes!

With the iPad I believe you get 2GB/month. This plan you only get 250MB/month. Big difference in price is because there is a HUGE difference in the offering.

I guess I honestly don't see what the big deal is as long as it doesn't interfere with reading or using apps. My brother in law has one and he has gotten some good deals.

How come there isn't any option for removable storage, like a 32gb/64gb micro sd card slot? I do not want to utilize the cloud storage feature if i run out of space. Also, this would be the easiest way to expand the storage. This is the only deal breaker for me.

no rear facing camera.... only front facing.

I just got off Amazon help chat. I was told the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" battery life was 10 hours of continuous use, the the OS is Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and the device includes a built-in microphone for chatting. Will Amazon be adding important specs such as this to the item page? Any other as yet unmentioned specs or capabilities will also be appreciated.

I see the new Fire has the camera for Skype, but can you just take still pictures with it? If so, I might consider selling my Android tablet and buying it.

Bethany, as far as I understood it the light can be turned off completely.

Is the manual for the Touch available for download anywhere? I would like to know whether there are any changes to handling due to lot of criticism by people like me who dont like the Touch with no buttons (aka accidental page turn syndrom).
