@D.Beck - (((high five))) on your first day of rads going smoothly. Back in 2001 when I had mine I felt it was the more upbeat and hopeful portion of my treatment as I got past chemo finally! It's been 11 yrs and I am here to tell it - good, bad and ugly - BUT I prefer mainly to be a "half full" instead of half empty type person!
So on that note - Here's to your continued recovery and renewed good health!
And your dog sounds wonderful! I have a cat (who I know is part teddy) who was so connected and tuned in to me all through treatment, pets just get it eh??

Micki, I'll bet you do. "Make it to 90." My mother is still living alone at 92 and my DH's mother left us last year at 99 1/2, although she had dementia the last couple of years. Just missed 100, as did her mother, who had the 'broken hip' thing or she might have lived longer. My MIL was European and went through 2 world wars etc. Not an easy life. I believe lifestyle probably helps longevity as a rule.

We too are retired and have to "be careful" but basically are living a low stress life now, except when I'm gaming. lol.

How is Diablo? Compared to Diablo 1 or 2?

I'd better with you Happy BDay now as I might forget in 5 days. hehehe

The Apothecary's Daughter

The Apothecary's Daughter

Interesting.......Two different ASIN's. I have the second book. I am sure many of us do.

Edited.....I do not have the first book. I have the second book. DUH

Only picked up a few books today:

Antiques Bizarre (Trash 'n' Treasures Mysteries) by Barbara Allan (My mother started it and said it's pretty good so far, but she's not read very far into it yet.)

Falling Uphill by Wendy Nelson Tokunaga.

I also picked up Dear Coca-Cola by Terry Ravenscroft (someone on one of the threads -- I don't remember who -- said it was funny)

and You're A Dead Man, Johnny Black (Book 1 of the Johnny Black, Soul Chaser Series) by JJ Zep. The formatting on this one may end up keeping me from reading it (the "Look inside" showed that common problem that crops up in dialogue with some Kindle books that people convert from MS Word docs -- I'm pretty sure that's the cause of it -- and that can end up driving me batty depending on how much of it there is).

Grandma says:
Two different authors also.

I have reported her for abuse as well.

It's too bad you can't fix stupid.

Is there any process we can go about having her review removed from that author's book? Her actions are not helping the author and drawing inappropriate attention to her.

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 23, 2012 7:04:20 PM PDT
I was just going to point out the change. If you look at the review discussion, the book very clearly stated that Julie Klassen was the authour. It now lists Charlotte Betts as the author.

Nome de Plume? I am getting tire of defending this author.

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 23, 2012 7:07:01 PM PDT
Two different books. That's the problem! Barbara compared the books and only read a few paragraphs of Betts and said she didn't like it based on reading that little.

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 23, 2012 7:07:45 PM PDT
Check our both listings now that the name has changed on the newest listing. That author has 2 books listed. Now, go to Julie Klassen's authors page.......WTH is going on with this?

Grandma says:
@Emerald Coast -these are two different books, not the same one book with two different ASIN and authors. For some reason Ammy let two identical names slip through.

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 23, 2012 7:09:40 PM PDT
But, if you read the product descriptions and the "look inside", they are the same book. The book that is being listed as being authored by Charlotte Betts was shown as authored by Julie Klassen when the review fiasco started.

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 23, 2012 7:11:20 PM PDT
Grandma, if you look at the review postings, I referenced the author from that book, not the one with the woman standing at the window.

Hi Marla. I think I should have picked a better word than "advertising". :-) I hope no one took that the wrong way. Of course, I appreciate VERY much the tips on the free books and don't think for a minute that anyone is promoting or advertising. When I post a book, it's because a) it's free, and b) it *sounds* like it might be good, that's it. I assume everyone else does the same. I hope I wasn't misunderstood.

Chai laughing here. I never heard the expression that 'her butter slipped off her pancake. Very apt. I responded to her twice and then read the quite long and descriptive pages given as a sample. It seems well written. When it is free I can get it.

Grandma says:
I see why you are confused I think Emerald. Barbara, in her "review" states that she just finished reading Klassen's book - the one with the woman standing by the window and that she is comparing the opening few paragraphs of Betts book with it.

GAAAHHHHH!!!! I could have read a book with the time I have spent on this nonsense.

Everyone read.

I have not had an easy life and sometimes believe that adversity, if handled with calm and patience, and sometimes laughter...can make you live longer. :)
I am a glass 3/4 full the song in 'Life of Brian' 'Always look at the bright side of life la de da.'
My family called me silly as a child..and they know now I always will be.

Diablo 1 was a breakthrough game. There had never been such a game. I only played single player and my husband and I, with one PC, took turns, an hour at a time. I beta-tested it, so had free discs.
I never played Diablo 2, because I was unable to transfer my wonderful Paladin to the 2nd game..though we were supposed to be able to.
My son and daughter-in-law and I were pretty wild about Diablo 1.

Diablo 3 seems to look much the same as the first Diablo, but we never got killed (and we sure did in the first game.) You had to use strategy in the first game just to go down stairs...knowing you would be set upon immediately. I had to trek through a maze-like area, killing get to the Butcher...5 times because I was killed so much and had to go back and do that long maze again.
With Diablo 3..we were online and playing together which was great...but the monsters were easier to kill and actually we felt as if we were NOT online at all. You are in an 'instance' of the game with whomever you play with.
I don't think I want to pay by the month to feel I am alone in the world.
Now there are waypoints in the dungeons so if you get killed, you can find your way back each time.
Honestly I cannot play $60 for a game which my husband may or may not want to play with me, and it is not an open world as most MMORPGs are. And then there will be monthly charges.
It seems to be a very good game all in all...but I have 1 and 2 still and may just go back and play those.

Oh thank you about my husband has decided the Kindle will be my birthday present and I agree.
I didn't tell him I saw him sneaking a package in last week LOL.

Emerald I think it is unfortunate that both books have the same title, though written by different authors. I read both summaries, and it seems the books are quite different.

I hope to have BOTH books someday...maybe maybe.
