Ludy- Then you need to delete some apps that are already downloaded from your Fire. The ones in the Cloud are not taking up any significant space on there.

Thanks so much. Works like a charm.

I just purchased a Kindle Fire, now I have the same problem you all are talking about, not being able to delete apps in the cloud, plus when you go on a pc to manage my account, alot of the aps that came pre loaded not only can not be deleted, but do not show as being in the account.

I do not know why this thread is still going. The answer to HOW TO REMOVE APPS FROM THE CLOUD was posted apx 2/28/12. Following this thread has been a social experiment. Correct answer to remove apps from cloud posted>answer ignored because no one scrolls back>same question asked again and again and again. Here is the correct answer again from an earlier post. I suspect that within 24 hours after this post, at least three people will again ask: 'How do I remove apps from the cloud?"

THERE IS A WAY but there are several steps: 1) delete app from "device", yes, it is still on the cloud. 2) sign into your http://amazon.com account on a computer, 3) scroll down to "digital content">click "your apps and devices". 4) all your apps will appear, look for the ones you want to remove from cloud>ACTION drop down> DELETE THIS APP. 5) return to your Kindle, hit the gear button and sync>hit the "more" button. 6) scroll down and click "APPLICATIONS". you now see "Filter by" drop down box. it reflects "running applications" by default, drop it down and select "all applications". 7) scroll down and click "Appstore" (NOT to be confused with "Apps" which is right above "Appstore"). click "CLEAR DATA". unwanted apps are now removed from kindle cloud. i learned of this technique from a Kindle Fire app tech named "J.J" who walked me through the steps.

there is a reason that this is still going on! when you do what you said the pre-installed apps such as IMDB and Audible do not appear under your apps so you cannot delete them!

THANK YOU SO MUCH MPK920! This worked..got some grey faces on current apps, after everything was done, but shutting down and turning the Kindle back on fixed that.
Now if only we could remove Facebook from the Kindle!

I have contacted amazon 5 times and they keep telling me that just because it is in cloud the app is not installed .I don't care, I do not want the icon at all!!!. they say they have NO way of removing from cloud at this time. I also have an ipad and it removes both when deleting apps , you would think kindle could do the same.

Any idea what to do if you get grey boxes for apps you still have? I shut my kindle down and restarted it but the grey faces are still there for all the apps that I have downloaded.

@MPK920: Thank you for your post(s). It worked! The reason this thread is still going is because people, like me, do not know where to go to find the answer that you have reposted.

One problem, though, is that many of the items I did NOT delete have grey boxes in place of the recognition icon. Any ideas as to how to fix this anomaly?

MPK920 says:
grey boxes are a mysterious amazon cloud issue. your normal icons will return, u just have to experiment with your kindle. turn it on (check icons)/turn it off/turn it on (check icons).... if that does not work, go to app section on your kindle fire, flip back and forth between cloud and device, turn on/turn off. icons will all start popping back up. i get grey boxes every time i delete an app. normal icons ALWAYS return.

what is this says:
To remove things from the carousel hold a press "remove from carousel "

Posted on Aug 6, 2012 7:15:38 AM PDT
Jonny Lee says:
@what is this: The issue isn't removing things from the carousel. The issue if removing unwanted things from the cloud.
