My kindle fire works great when plugged in thee charger. When I unplugg it it is completely dead.

What could the problem be.

I have the same problem. The problem appears to be in the connection at the usb port. Any ideas what to do?

This worked for me too. Thanks.

Hello, my kindle fire doesn't appear to be recharging. I have tried the following: switched household plugs, borrowed another kindle fire charger, turned off then on (the charging light doesn't come on either), plugged in the charger wiggled it around gently on the device. Still the light doesn't come on after all night. I was reading two days ago and last night run down to past the 15% warning; figuring I would run down the battery then plug in. Still nothing.

I am experiencing the same problem with my Kindle Fire. I can't get it to power on. I held in the button for a slow 60 second count. Nothing. I even purchased a new power cable and nothing. Anybody have more suggestions?

Shut down the Kindle Fire because it felt hot and now the light won't come on at all. Any ideas?

Pay no attention to the illuminated power light. Charge the KF for at least four hours, disconnect it, and push the power button to reboot it. It's not unusual for the KF to become slightly warm under heavy use but it should not become "hot." If it does, contact Kindle CS and request a replacement.

I can connect to the web, but when I try to go to the app store by touching "Apps", and then "Store", it never does. It will just spin. It does not put things on the Carousel any more either. My apps don't work, I get the message "An error occurred. Please download this app again from the Amazon Appstore" Any ideas? Thanks

my kindle fire won't charge, after i depleted the battery. When I try to charge, it blink green light several times then ornge light once. after few hours it still won't take the charge. any suggestion?

jsh1120 says:
Reboot your KF. If that doesn't solve the problem, it's likely that the cache and/or data associated with one or more apps are corrupted. If that's the case, I recommend you speak to a Kindle CS specialist who can lead you through the cache/data clearing process. It's not difficult to do and won't harm your KF but this is not a good place to try to troubleshoot a specific issue of this sort.

jsh1120 says:

Assuming you have left the KF plugged into a power source for several hours, disconnected it, pressed and held the power button for 30 seconds, and then pressed the power button again and it will still not boot, contact Kindle CS. (Use the Help option at the top of this page.)

I tried your methods and still not boot, I'll contact Kindle SC. Thanks.

I am on my 5th kindle (the one with a key pad, pearl screen). Loved them all but the screen on all of them end up "scrambling" or fragmenting making them unreadable. Amazon has replaced them only to later have same problem. I am thinking about upgrading to the Fire but don't want the same problem. Any ideas about why the screens keep going bad?

Just got a replacement kindle fire for one with a defective USB port, however the new one has a power button that is completely stuck in its port, will not move, and worst of all its frozen. How do I get it to reboot if I can't hold the power button ?
