Wow, Marla, and several of your picks are very short.

You had me looking at The Surgeon's Blade yet again but somehow I passed.

You're welcome Mary and I'm right behind you. :)

Ahem...Speaking of books.....I had a record-breaking day today - despite all temptation you all threw in front of me, I took 8 - yep that's right eight books. me. genre slut - er, easy reader extraordinaire. A new low. Mostly follow-ups or series...as follows:

All three Shaun Rikers, detective mystery -
Dead Upon Dead (A Shaun Riker Investigation) (Dimestorenovels#001)
Right Between The Eyes (A Shaun Riker Investigation) (Dimestorenovels#002)
Aquarium (A Shaun Riker Investigation) (Dimestorenovels#003)

Conjuring Raine my token paranormal

Blood and Groom (Sasha Jackson Mysteries) I swear I already picked up one that features a part time phone sex worker/PI - if it's not the same line, then I will just compare the two

The Surgeon's Blade I already have one by this author, for sure

And the one you talked me into - I couldn't find the description on the page, even though I liked the cover, so passed it up the first time....Book of Mercy

If I can keep this low number of selections up, I can probably catch up on my reading by-----okay, I can't catch up. But at least I'm not as behind......:)

Okay don't shoot but I am a fairly new poster and a lurker for about a month or so but this room to me is full of a variety of very nice people. I came to this room the first time for free book links and I still do that several times a day but I have discovered that the people on here are so nice and welcoming. My first post was welcomed from several people. I have looked in the book links only site and use that if I'm not feeling chatty. However, I am an extrovert so I am always feeling chatty. :)

Becky - ITA -

I have no clue how I feel about posting .25 cent books, or .01cent books - when google put a penny book on their site we waited for the posting of a price match - and encouraged to tell Amazon about the price - I put that in the category of "chat"

and
FWIW - I dont like that BJ and Becky and others (ME! *grin) feel the need to delete posts - I understand it, but again, it should be a way to pause and figure out how the interaction on the thread has become...

Becky - I do remember all the hullabaloo (Love that word) when the "LINKS ONLY Free thread started"
and I think it gets downvoted on the price drop thread - but like I've said, I'm nosey when a post gets "hidden" I open it...

Posted on Mar 20, 2012 11:55:54 AM PDT
oh ok Becky! I see what you are saying..and I have noticed a huge amount of evening posts! I have come back the next morning to see that I missed about 1,000 posts!..LOL unfortunately, if I try to catch up on those, I would never have time to get new free books..I mainly am here day time (central/u.s.),usually lurking in my cozy corner-which I shall now curl back up into for a while :)

I just added Sin And Vengeance to my list. It says "Randy Black series". Does anyone know what number this one is in the series? Are there others I should read before this one? Thanks.

Lordy, did I get some panties in a wad???? After last night, I deleted all my posts for yesterday and truly didn't plan to post again. I don't even read about vampires, but I know a lot of people on here do. Do those same people go to the discounted thread? I don't know. I do know that I don't. I was simply telling other posters about a good deal on books they might like. My two little lines have kept everybody gripping for two pages, but I guess that's allowed. So if it's such a big thing, have Amazon delete it. I'm not going to, this is silly.

I remember getting bapped on the nose for complaining that a book being talked about wasn't free. Joyce said to me the occasional wasn't a problem to her. Every once in a while it ends up coming up.

@Becky - I do understand LOL. And I really do agree with you about adding "almost free" links here. As I said, it is already a problem with authors jumping right in there and stopping their free offer in the middle of the day.

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 20, 2012 11:45:52 AM PDT
Pam, the "past" was about a week ago. Honestly, I've never seen a thread change direction so fast since I was in chat room in AOL, but it will be what it is.

Grandma,

i'm just grumpy. Picture me on the porch in a rocking chair shaking my cane at all these young'uns changing the thread:) But it will go how people want it to, I guess clinging to what it was is useless. I do like being told where the free links thread only is, how amusing, considering I was one of the main defenders when it started LOL!, but whatever.

I just listened to all 4 (Samantha Moon) audibly on my iPod. Much more than 99 cents. However, when doing chores, driving, or cross stitching a Audio is the way to go. I think the 5th book has just come out or will shortly. Enjoy

Becky, I'm sorry you deleted this post. I happen to agree about no paid books on the thread. It is confusing enough when authors change their free book to paid after just an hour or two without books that aren't free also being included here. At that point I might as well just hunt through the lists with a fine tooth comb myself, since I wouldn't be able to rely on anyone else's finds actually being free anyway.

Mary, There's a link from Emily in the discounted thread.

eta: page 323 of the thread

I believe in what I said, but the room is what it is. I'm deleting my crap because who cares? I mean, if people want to post links to paid books, talk about everything social etc, then that's what the room is now. So, if some of us are having trouble adjusting to a change that seemed to happen in less than a week, then I'm sorry. It is what it is.

Feline-
Chill out. Becky is venting and trying to be nice about it.

Becky, I for one, would never want you or anyone else here to leave! You have great book picks! I choose many of your lists on here! I guess being new, I can't truly understand what you are missing from the past, but as one of the core regular people on this thread you help make it what it is, and often as things seem to change a bit, eventually it finds a way of being ok ;)

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 20, 2012 11:36:04 AM PDT
Becky-
Back before the KDP deluge started, the number of participants in the Free thread would only be a couple dozen. Naturally that does not include lurkers.

Since February the number of participants in this thread has been between eighty and 129. For point of reference I checked RAOK and Dragi's threads yesterday and participants are generally around 3 dozen.

With Amazon's open forum anyone can post what they want as long as they stay within Amz's TOS. The room has just expanded and evolved. If some of us can't keep up with all the posts, skipping pages might happen but such is life. I agree with Terri that things will settle down eventually.
