Thank you, all done now...

ETA off to take a shower before work, see you all later, in today's thread. Leave me some coffee, ok? Have been awake since 2.30 due to family conspiracy - they have been tag-teaming to make sure somebody was always on hand to keep mummy up...

eReader has updated
4 full pages * 48 = 192
partial page 5 = 16
total new books = 208

http://www.ereaderiq.com/free/ (208 books - updated at 12:40 am PDT)

I had that problem. Wouldn't go from page to page. I thought I broke it. :-) Seems to be OK now.

Did you check Project Gutenberg for it? They have nearly all classical children's lit, in mobi and free, usually with and without illustrations.

I picked it up for myself because I didn't have to side load it......yes, I am that lazy.

I was going to put the almost 9 year old on my account, but already have 3 other peoples short people on there, so I have decided to side load all of his books from Project Gutenberg before I give it to him.

Thanks Grandma.

I love downloading kids books.

For everyone trying to help me with the Wish Lists of strangers for non-digital items, I could NOT get it to work last night. When I checked my cart this AM, there were 2 of the failed gift orders in my cart and they had the peoples names on them. Woohoo! I guess I will know if it works when I get the confirmation e-mails. Thank you.

Regarding my less than happy rant re: the Kindles for the school.....my thought process has changed. I got my 2 and everyone else is on their own. They are adults and can do whatever they have to do to fulfill their promise. I am finished.

Edit for spelling.

OT.....again.

I just found out that if we order more than 25 Kindles from Amazon, there will be a discount. Waiting to see how much.
Hope springs eternal.

P.L. Travers only died when I was an adult (I don't remember exactly when), and her books were published post-1923, so they're not public domain, and those are the only classics available on PG. I've had the Mary Poppins Kindle version of Mary Poppins & Mary Poppins Comes Back (in one volume) on my wish list, so I snagged this one and replaced the one on my WL with just MP Comes Back. Silly of me, but those were some of my favorite stories when I was a kid. I especially liked Michael's Terrible Tuesday where he just felt bad and naughty for no particular reason. lol

come to thursday:)

Grandma says:
@AmeliaAT - that 1923 date might not apply. US copyright law until 1995 specified 1 35 year term and 1 renewal (15 years as I recall) so there is a lot of public domain stuff from the US that is post '23.

AmeliaAT says:
No, f the copyright was renewed in 1964 (which it was, since P.L. Travers was still alive & writing and quite a with-it author), then it is not yet in PD, and it won't be for a great many years (sooner, likely, in her own country than in the U.S. because of the "Disney effect" on copyright laws in the U.S.).

ETC 1969 > 1964

ETA: and as P.L. Travers wasn't American, she was exempt from the requirement to renew prior to '64. They're all still copyright.

Hi @ AmeliaAT - I only saw the movie with Julie Andrews and never read the book. Can you direct me to where I can buy them, please? Thank you so much! ebc aka AH

Mary Poppins (Odyssey Classics)

It's back up to 4.99.

Be forewarned that the Disney Mary Poppins is a much warmer, sweeter person than the original, who is brusque and more than a bit crusty! But she's quite magical, and she has a reserve of affection for the Banks even if she doesn't show it. British and all! ;-)

Thank you Cinder and AmeliaAT. Now a proud owner of Mary Poppins. :-) ebc aka AH
