Rob , i have been on the amazon site between my kindle fire away this weekend and now at work on my work PC , so if i or someone else has answered this in the meantime please ignore it , but re Amazon Prime /music /movies on the Kindle Fire outside of the USA , living in South Africa i do not really know too much about Amazon Prime , and to be honest i am not a very big fan of American sit coms and seies so i dont miss it , but i can tell you this about streaming movies and music to the kindle Fire , first as you will know you can connect to your PC and transfer data from your pc to the kindle fire which i have found great for music and short form videos or 1 off tv programmes if you have them on your home pc you can put them onto your kindle fire HOWEVER you can only transfer files of 2GB , which is a lot of music , but a long movie like say a Harry Potter is over that 2GB size and will stop at the 2GB point 2/3rds of the way through the movie , the best solution to get longer movies then is to download a fantastic app from getjar which is called "splashtop" once you set it up with your PC you can actually turn your Kindle Fire into your PC or laptop in your hand without cables connecting you then you can stream movies /music to your kindle fire and watch or listen anywhere both devices are in wi fi range ,as for apps that give you movies yes there are apps that claim to give you access to movies and i know they do work whilst messing around with my Kindle Fire i inadvertantly late one night saw a movie download app on getjar and decided to see if it worked , it did because the next thing i new i had naked bodies in some sort of masks writhing around on the screen and moaning and lots of groaning going on which woke the wife up next to me lying in bed , needless to say that put an end to my movie download experiments i only watch about 2 movies a year if that anyway so it was really a capability search to see if these apps work or not , hope this helps best regards Mike

The only thing that you will be able to do here in Canada, is download your digital books that you have already on Amazon to the Fire, you will not be able to download any apps (unless you have a US credit card with a US billing address), nor will you be able to download and watch movies on your Kindle Fire unless you are physically in the United States.

Hello , yes if you look at the KF fire site, it now decribes exactly what you just said. It use to say not available outside US. Also noticed that the Kindle DX is now available interrnationally, hopefully this means the KF is coming soon.

Hi Michael, yes I was aware of that however to take advantage of the Fire you really need the Cloud Storage, I do not watch TV series so the TV really does not interest me, more the Apps, games, movies, reading and the "No monthly Fees" LOL

the DX has been available for ages, perhaps you meant the Kindle Touch?

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 25, 2012 6:57:12 AM PDT
last time I had checked (probably awhile now LOL) it was still not available internationally

Amazon have recently changed the kindle fire advertisement on their web site, it no longer says" US ONLY" it now says " using outside of the Usa" or something like that, and then it explains what you can and cannot do with a kindle fire outside of the USA

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 25, 2012 11:49:26 AM PDT
Yes i just saw that yesterday and posted above, hoepfully this means that the next time they change it to say "Available Globally" sigh

they've also said that people with a US credit card will be able to buy apps outside the US

The following is copied from the KF page
cheers
Rob

If you're traveling with Kindle Fire, you can access any content you've downloaded to your device or shop for new books and magazines anytime you like.
With a U.S. credit card, you'll also be able to purchase new apps and music for Kindle Fire while you are abroad.

To purchase, download or stream movies and TV shows, you must be physically present in the U.S. and have a U.S. billing address.

The app availability does not bother me anymore, since I can now get just about any app I want from getjar, slide me or 1mobile, I keep checking the Amazon app store and the selection I have with those 3 sites is bigger than Amazons currently, I can watch movies via the brilliant app "splashtop'" which streams movies direct from my Pc without connector cables, one thing I think will happen IF the kindle fire goes global is that we might all get our own "country"clouds because the access we get will be dictated by legal and rights issues on what we can and cannot view, hopefully we will see soon Mike

Rob, sorry I forgot to mention this but I am busy at the moment with the app "splashtop" from getjar, as well as streaming movies to my kindle fire, it actually turns your kindle fire into your home Pc in your hand I don't know exactly yet if you can get full or partial functionality of all my Pc uses on the kindle fire but it looks really promising, Best regards Miks

Hello Michael, once again thank you for the information, I will be waiting for the KF tyo be available in Cnanda, been patient this long although yesterday I almost did go buy a Playbook or some similar tablet LOL

Posted on Apr 26, 2012 9:31:59 AM PDT
Seriously Robert if you have not got one, I recommend doing what I did!, buy the kindle fire side load the apps by changing the setting as described, download, the app "lookout" then get all your apps from getjar, slide me, and 1mobile then you can get 90% out of the device and enjoy yourself until Amazon brings the kindle fire to Canada, it is dead easy to delete the apps and change the setting back if you wanted to when the kindle fire eventually arrives, I download and delete apps all the time, I like blackberry but my brother in law has a playbook and it is not in the same league as the fire OK it has cameras and one or two other things the kindle fire does not but I have those on my phone I don't need them twice, the fire gives you all the standard kindle does e reader wise plus games, movies, videos, e mail, music, radio, I can live without Amazon prime and a few apps until they arrive here, there is actually so much to do on the kindle fire as it is I am not reading as much as I was before, keep well Mike

Posted on Apr 26, 2012 9:42:43 AM PDT
Yeah i won't be getting playbook, i have phone, camera and laptop as well as my Kindle for reading LOL

Only way I can order in Canada is to give a US address and then go accraoss border to pick up, so will just be patient a little longer. In a few weeks we basically move out to our trailer for 4 months where no WiFi and very limited cell coverage so all good.

i and anyone else who reads your post have just become better informed though, thanks

Rob, lets hope that when you get back from your trailer KINDLE FIRE CANADA has arrived as I say there is not much I cant do on mine here in SA that the Kindle Fire does in the USA, in fact I am not an American sit com / series fan much preferring things from the UK ( slightly different sense of humour) what is it someone said "divided by a common language" or something like that keep well and make sure you download enough books for 4 months in the trailer best wishes Mike

Rob if you like that kind of humour I cannot recommend the following book available on Amazon strongly enough, "rioutous assembly" by Tom Sharpe I read this book in bed and woke the wife up at 2am with my laughing, she then read it and did the same to me!!!!!! Keep well enjoy your summer, we are in Autumn now Mike

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 27, 2012 10:25:53 AM PDT

Consider us lucky. In the UK & Australia they wait WAY longer for everything american. including movies, tv shows, and products.
