Thanks for the UPDATE Paul. The lawsuit may be on a lot of threads, but it is relevant to this particular thread.

It ain't no backlight or Harry Potter though...

Suppose you don't want to read tfm? A good company tries to make customers satisfied, not win a legal debate.

In future, I suppose, in quite close future, ebooks will automatically inject amnesia drugs in case of book removal. You've got only license to read, not to remember...

You do realize this is a 3 year old thread, right? It's not like it just happened - nor has it happened since that time.

I was wondering how he even found this thread. I started reading it and almost replied, too, until I saw the date.

In fact they have Relisted the books as a combo deal since. I have them on my wishlist!

I've noticed several zombie threads that have appeared in the last couple of days. People get in heated debates about nothing because it was resolved two or three years ago until someone points out the date.

I wish that the dates a thread is started would show somewhere without having to actually go in and look at the post.

Why do they even have 3 year old posts? Surely there can't be any topic 3 years ago that hasn't been covered many times since then. Even in the last year.

I was going to give someone advice on a kindle for their elderly father and before I did, I noticed the OP posted back in Nov. I hope he gave his Dad a kindle for Christmas. :)

I was just in that thread! Someone chastized me in November and it was totally uncalled for so I responded. It's never to late to defend oneself!

Zanzibar - I think trolls look around for old threads and resurrect them to stir up trouble. There was a terrible debate about battery life earlier today and the thread was two years old! LOL!

I agree - most questions have been asked and answered 47 times in the first 4 pages of posts.

I didn't even notice that til you pointed it out. Friggin zombies.

You are referring to something that happened over 6 years ago. Amazon refunded the money, so you have no case for a lawsuit. (Also, Amazon promised never to do that again.)

Wow... Most undead zombie I've seen to date!!!

Anyway, the more correct analogy would be if the car you bought had been stolen property (unknown to you or the dealer). I believe that in that case, the car could be removed from your possession (see http://www.expertlaw.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26857) and chances are extremely low that you would ever see your money again.

The situation was that these books had been put on Amazon's site by a third party illegally. Amazon had to resolve the situation in a legal way, so they did in the way that best respected the law.

Also, Amazon didn't "hack into" anyone's computer, as claimed.

Late to the party, showed up at the wrong house, forgot to bring a present.

J. Gatie says:
Not only did they refund the money, they also gave them a free copy of the real book or a $35 Amazon Gift Card, along with a public apology from Jeff Bezos himself. In other words, Amazon went far above and beyond what they were legally (or even ethically) liable to do, all because they were trying to prevent an egregious copyright infringement by agenda driven "information is free" jackasses.
