Does anybody know where I can get the Micro USB-b Connector (service part) that is on the circuit board? I have one that broke off the board and the board is good but bins broke on connector so I need a new replacement part. Any help is appreciated.

Is there some reason you're attempting to fix your Fire yourself, thereby voiding the warranty, instead of calling Amazon and getting it replaced for free?

D. J. Millet says:
it's a customers who voided any warranty as their child jammed the wrong type connector into the jack thus shearing it off the board, probably shorted it too but no way to tell till I get the part if ever.

It works with hotspot, I have used mine with my phone.

Nevertheless if you'd called Amazon first I'd bet they would have replaced it for free. They've been having trouble with that connector coming loose, and they're replacing them for anybody who's had a problem with them.

Pretty much. I don't see the point in it. To get USB hosting you essentially get rid of everything that makes the KF good. At that point, why even bother getting a KF? If people want USB hosting, they should look at other tablets.

Can a black Fahd leather carting case/keyboard connect to a kindle fire 7" Multi touch

Posted on Dec 25, 2012 6:40:13 AM PST
I can't find that brand, but if the keyboard uses a USB connection it will not work with any Fire. If it uses Bluetooth it should work.

Look up kindle fire keyboards the first one you see is the one I want

Posted on Dec 25, 2012 7:05:27 AM PST

No, that has a USB connection and won't work with a Fire.

Yes I did. The search feature isn't that good. It doesn't guarantee that what it finds will work with the Fire, just that it's some kind of keyboard for some kind of tablet.

I guarantee you that NO USB keyboard will work with ANY Fire.

I have used the adapter for my 7.5 HD, and put in the flash drive, but so far, I cannot find where the flash drive would be located in an explorer.

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 6, 2013 2:28:55 PM PST
If you mean you have connected a flash drive to the USB port of a Fire HD 7", it won't be located anywhere in an explorer - the OS has no drivers for that, and won't recognize it at all.

sure wish I would have read this before I wasted a couple of dollars on a useless usb micro to usb 2.0 adapter cable....... doesn't work, from what I can tell.

No, as stated repeatedly in this discussion you cannot connect anything to the USB port of a Kindle Fire except a charger or a PC.

Frank, You can only use a 3 phase toaster, this will get you toasty fast, be sure that the phases are proper, a/b/c and color coded right. Have your smoke detector handy!

According to what I have researched on both Amazon itself and Yahoo Answers, it is a USB Micro-B port, and it is for file exchange with a computer and charging only. Not sure what even that means, ie, can I put a movie (avi) on it, and download it to the Kindle, or is it strictly to CONNECT to my PC for the exchange. I really wish Amazon would be technically specific on their specs especially when I'm looking at the higher-priced products ($500 one). Need serious technical real details from Amazon one would expect...., not all just the lovely sales features which are easily understood anyway by most, eh?

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 9, 2013 5:24:10 PM PST
They're pretty darned specific about what you can do with the USB port. You can charge, and you can connect to the PC as a USB drive to move files to and from the Kindle. They're also very specific about what kind of files you can move, and AVI is not one of them. The Fire plays MP4 format video, if it is properly formatted for that screen.

i like my kindle fire. I can use it to play games using my usb controller and even transfer pictures from my flash drive to it. the only problem tho is i have to carry a bulky powered usb hub because the kindle fire cannot supply the power to power the devices completely only enough power to power my logitech keyboard when i use it.
