Somebody decided it would be a good idea to have the NBA All-Stars, the Daytona 500, and a huge soccer tournament all on the same weekend. :-( Traffic is crazy and I-4 was at a standstill last night. I may be staying in this weekend.

Whatever did happen yesterday with Joyce? Ive tried skimming the thread, and it looks like she's in a smut because someone opened a free book thread with links only, no chitchat, and has decided to not post any more. Does anyone know what really happened?

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 25, 2012 6:10:53 AM PST
Joyce never responded to the other thread until someone came into her thread calling out people who had knocked the idea of another free thread.

There has been a lot of down voting revolving around the amount of cookbook discussion. I think it seems too disheartening to her to continue since people don't get it.

She is the soul and conscience of the forum and greatly missed.

If anyone is interested, Polska Dotty: Carp in the Bathtub, Throttled Buglers, and other Tales of an Englishman in Poland is free today. I read it (the 1 review is mine) and it was cute and fun without being silly.

Whew! Here I am with cookies. I am still a little groggy, and got to the room and was wandering around, then, someone said, "Cheesy" and I got distracted. I walked into a wall and almost dropped all these cookies. With a little effort, I found the new door...AND HERE I AM WITH COOKIES FOR ALL. Enjoy.

When I used to live in Daytona and work right across the street from the racetrack we used to leave town on that weekend - or else stay home because you couldn't go anywhere.

do you (or anyone) like Scramble with Friends? I'd love more matches that aren't with random opponents...

Happy Birthday, Chloe!!

*Glad JML made you that cake...I have been up to my mouse ears in cookies and coffee cake. Make sure everyone leaves lots of crumbs, since I have to run errands now.

Uh oh. If jamel *made* that cake, then we better admire it and not try eating it. One never knows what's under that frosting, but it's probably not cake! ;)

Why is she upset? She or anyone should not care what people think.

On a final note, Joyce does not have a monopoly on the free book thread, she should know that!

Here's it's 26. If that were Celsius it would count as warm. Not here. :)

I am so sorry it is that cold there. It only got that cold once here. It was about a year ago and we were having a freakish cold snap. So I leave for work at 6 am, this one morning was very cold and I had to get gas. Mind you all I was wearing were shorts and a t-shirt, within seconds slight pain was developing in my arms and legs while I was outside waiting for the tank to fill up. Found out later that morning that it was 25 F around the time I was filling up my tank.
