@SueM
Thanks. One of my favorite authors.

The Box

Her mother at death's door, Tiffani's grandfather lets her open a Christmas present, hoping to cheer the young girl up. She opens a magicians box with hidden messages of love and treasure.

The Box is heart warming tale of a gift that's been passed down through four generation, each adding their own letter of love before giving it to their child.
Tiffani finds the last letter her mom may ever write.

Happy Thursday.

LOB Thanks for the start. The true spirit of a gift was a wonderful reminder. I hope your son has arrived safe and sound and you're having a great time catching up on his life. Have a fun day today. (cooking that favorite meal)

Becky - thanks for your input, much appreciated ;)

Scarlett859 - heeeya - here you are TOO! LOL. Nice to see a familiar face :) You're right, people are lovely here. (If you liked Clipped, then you've probably read " The Slowest Burn by TypoKween" already?) BTW, I'm addicted to Pininterest

Snowlady - You're from SA too? Yes, the world gets smaller and smaller through these forums. I'm amazed at how I am exposed to the rest of the world, by just being in front of my iPad.
I'm a bit of a weird reader:
Apart from whats on my wishlists, I love the older works of John Irving, Nora Roberts, Linda Howard. Cut my teeth on the old Harlequins by the matriarchs of that genre. I like Thrillers with elements of Romance and Suspense from Sandra Brown, Karen Robards, Karen Rose. I've started reading New YA. Can't get into Fantasy, Chicklit, Urban, Sci-Fi, historicals or anything involving men with tails and wings. I can't do the vampire thing either unless it's by JR Ward and I LOVE the Twilight fanfiction in which the Hs and Hs don't eat people LOL. Maeve Binchy's The Glass Lake, Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt and Ricochet by Sandra Brown are books I've read and re-read too many times to count. My MOST favourite author is Anne Mather -if SHE wrote about manly angels, I would most probably go there LOL

And stopping by to say good morning, always like showing up after all the hard work is done :) thanks LOB, and Ribbon, see I knew if I had an idea, you all would take care of most everything else. For those of you wondering how your Secret Santa will be selected, I plan on using a tested and true method. Each name will be printed on a long, narrow slip of paper. All of the papers will be crumpled slightly and put in a large serving dish.....and stirred up with a cup of fresh catnip and small furry fake mice. I will go through your names in order, and each of my kitties will then take turns pawing out a slip of paper to match. Well, Blue's paws are big, he may pull a couple at a time....but as you can see it is indeed random.

I saw the note about mulberry, as long as I get an email, and mulberry comes out to post a few times in the next week - if only to say Hi I'm here, we are good.

And hi to Beeg! Janine is from your part of the world, I believe. And you will understand this comment; I also read a lot of authors from the Harlequin stable of the 80's, and it does spoil me for a lot of the romance/suspense/chicklit or anything else really, today. Like it or not, the Harlequin stable training forced an author to learn to pare their writing down to essentials, write tightly, have a distinct beginning, middle and end, define a character within a limited amount of words. a lot of authors without this training don't have editors to help them develop that experience, and I get bored with the writing. Of course, it also means they have a distinctive style (some would say writing the same book over and over), which works well for series, but can get boring over 17 books - except that you get attached to the characters. Think Nora, Sandra, Jayne Anne Krentz, Janet Evanovich . I don't see that kind of development going on today....

Beeg - actually CW&IA was my first fanfic. I had to do a little searching for it but I found it. Found The Slowest Burn. Will add to my ever growing list of TBR. Do you read directly from the sites or download to read offline?

Beeg,
Count me in with the earlier authors. Brown, Robards, Nora Roberts, JD Robb. Like MIT said, it not the same style now a days.

It's nice to have you join us. I hope you decide to stick around.

Thank you for the start today, Lover of Blitzen.
I remember you, WYRenegade, nice to see you again :)

Some of my book choices today:
Reinhardt's Blood - Warner Shows - Contemporary Fiction
Nelly of No Man's Land - B. J. Myrick - Historical Fiction
Mending Time - Cheri Lasota - Romance
Capture The Wind - Virginia Brown - Romance
Girl in the Gatehouse, The - Julie Klassen - Religious Fiction
Public Property - Mandy Baggot - Contemporary Fiction
A Wall Ever Higher - Elisabeth Nelson - Romance

@Hazel from Wednesday thread - There was one night that I was checking the books later in the day, perhaps Monday, where several on the eReaderiq.com list were no longer free for me, but I haven't had any issues since. I compared some of my picks on both sites, and they were free on both amazon.ca and http://amazon.com. I am not planning on switching to the .ca site yet for several reasons - the ereader.com site has a lot of books that they are tracking for me, and I don't want to register them all with the Canadian ereader website; I would no longer be able to click on any of the fine suggestions on this thread, and I could no longer use Shelfari if I use the amazon.ca site (unless I add all my books manually, ugh).
