So, Amazon gives you a discount for an item if you take the ads and are responsible enough to even allow you to opt out by returning the discount later if you feel the ads are infringing on your experience and you think this is a bad move by Amazon? Did you read the product description page? Did you see that what you bought was a device with Special Offers and that right beside it was a selection for one without?

If you're talking about the recommendations, did you actually read all of this thread to see that Amazon has provided a way to remove even those?

Of course not...

Your comment is one that no forum should ever have. People are looking for help with Amazon's sneaky way of doing business and you add a comment like this? You don't belong on any forum.

What is exactly sneaky about the way they do business? Seems pretty up front to me - you don't want the ads either don't buy the ad supported model or pay the difference to remove them

Hate it. All this advertisements are sooooooo annoying. When I bought this reader there was nothing on the box that would say that I am paying for a damn special offers.

once you unsubscribe, can you go back and forth freely? I see that you can resubscribe on the manage page. Id like to check once in awhile but dont want them there all the time.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 17, 2012 9:33:14 AM PST
You can do this on the eink kindles, without charge each time (at the beginning some people worried about this.) So, I would assume you would be able to go back and forth on the Fire as well.

The Blade says:
No, you are getting a DISCOUNT for "damn special offers". Like has been mentioned over and over in this thread, you can pay Amazon back the discount and get the special offers removed. Simple.

Problem is that you want the discount AND no special offers.

Edit:
Heh. Reading and responding from my new 8.9 HD. What a cool new toy!

I turned off ads today and the screen saver that replaces the ads is wonderful! A different, beautiful, hi-def photo comes up each time I unlock my kindle. I love it. Considering the $15 is a one shot price and I'll be using this device for years, unsubscribing seems like a no brainier to me. Just my opinion.

@Just saying: it says it very clearly on the Fire's product page on the website. If you bought it from a non-Amazon store, then I think that you need to complain to the salesperson at that store. serious suggestion, not trying to be nasty.
