I just got a Nexus 7 instead of the Kindle Fire HD. Now I am thinking that "MAYBE" I should have bought the Kindle Fire HD instead.

Reason...being that when reading Amazon books on the Nexus, I have to use the Amazon App and it seems that I am not seeing anything in color and when there is a photo in the book I am not able to increase the size of the photo to view it. Such as map drawings, etc.

Ideas? THANKS!

I use the Amazon Kindle app (free) but have not yet had any books that have coloured pics in them. The covers are in colour, though, so I thought that if the Ebook had been uploaded with colour pics inside then they would display in colour - perhaps not?
As to the sizing of pictures, true you cannot adjust the size of the cover, but again I have no books with pictures in them, but you can resize the text, so I don't see why one should not be able to do that with pictures too. I will find a book with some pics in and see what happens if I try resizing them.

Thanks for your reply. I also am using the Amazon Kindle app on my Nexus. I am currently reading the book "The Twelve" and become very frustrated when I could not enlarge the maps in the story.

I tried to resize the large to extra large, but it did nothing to help with the maps or photos in the story/book. Kinda bummed...that I will have to pull out my Kindle 3 to see the maps. HA!

It is upto the publisher if they want to have the photos in color or not. Most the time they opt for black and white because the Eink kindles cannot display the color.

You may want to try one of the other ebook reader apps. I use Aldiko and prefer it to the Kindle app.

It's free and here's the link to it:

Posted a question about this on a US Nexus7 forum and someone confirmed that you cannot resize a colour picture on the Nexus (kindle) app as it is embedded in the page, but it should resize with the whole page and yes, if the ebook has colour pictures in it they will display in colour on the Nexus Kindle app.

FYI: I had to turn off my Nexus 7's wifi and then turn it back on before my books would start downloading.

Guy Ivie says:
You can get the Nook app on your Nexus 7 and read all of your Nook books that way. There are plenty of ebook reader apps -- FBreader, Moon Plus (my favorite), etc. -- that will read non-DRM .epub books (such as the SF books from The majority of the .epub books from Barnes & Noble, however, have DRM and can only be read on a Nook or with the Nook app.

I am having the exact same problem. I received the first two books that I ordered, but the next two are acting just like this writer describes. Is there a fix for it?

I've got a Kindle keyboard device. Had it about 2 or 3 years and yesterday when I switched it on, it has half the screensaver on the reading page and impossible to read as it is totally corrupted. I have rebooted the device (the 20 second reboot) but that has not helped. Also made sure the device is fully charged. Cannot think of what to do - I have dozens of books on the device and am on holiday and now cannot read the books apart from now having to use my Nexus tablet to get them and read them. Anyone else had this problem and is there anyone out there who could offer a solution, apart from returning it to Amazon.

I don't have an answer to your problem, but I think you would have a better chance of getting a response if you start a new thread. It's kind of buried here and doesn't have too much to do with the original topic. Hope that helps a little :-)

You are quite right. Will do, and did not do it originally as am on the road and time of connection and access to forum was limited :-(

Download the Kindle app, install it and register the device to the same Amazon account you used to buy the books.

I have attempted to order three apps from the amazon app store to use on my Nexus 7 tablet. I received confirmation of the purchases however I can not find them to install them. I do not have a "sync" or "Cloud" option within the amazon app. They show as purchases but I have had them for a week and have been unable to actually find a way to download them to my

I have a Nexus 10 and my wife just purchased a Kindle Voyage. Currently we both use the same email address. For my wife to order books for her Kindle will she need her own email address?
