I am going to take you guys words for this. I do develop this kind of software, so I know how they could easily stop the transaction, but from a business point of view, it doesn't make sense.

For instance, if somebody in the US bought one and traveled to Canada and then wanted to buy a book and could not, it would be silly.

I am going to get my hands on one I think. I read at least 2 books a month and have read about 60 books on my current Kindle. The light issue is driving me crazy.

Brandon...I will get my PW end of this week. I live in BC. This will be my 5th Kindle...all bought in the US. I usually have them shipped to friends in US, but this time am shipping to a postal service in Blaine, WA. I pay the duty on them...no big deal.

I was thinking of just driving through to Buffalo and getting one from Best Buy. Seems there is no stock at the moment. Getting it shipped to a friend in the US is too complicated for me right now.

Brandon...check out the postal stores just across the border. The one I use gives you a customer number so you don't have a box number and the charge is $5 per delivery. I did it on line.

It will work fine. The only problem you could have is warranty issues if something goes wrong with it.

Yes so do I, mostly books and music. I think I have read about 60 books on my current Kindle. I am in Toronto, and we drive through to Buffalo regularly to do some shopping, so I can monitor all the Best Buy Stores online for stock. As soon as one gets it, I can just go through and pick it up. 70 mins nd I have it. right now nobody has stock, but it is expected by Nov, so 3 weeks I can definitely wait.

Looks like they're releasing them in Europe. No news on Canada though... I the delay will allow me to get more of my money's worth out of my Sony e-reader.

Amazon's warranty works around the world and the ppw works just fine outside USA.

Great so it definitely works in Canada. Thanks. Now I am officially jealous :-(

The only problem you will run into is IF the PW needs servicing. Amazon can only ship to a US address and you will be reponsable for the return shipping to Amazon. Once the PW is available in Canada, this obviously no longer is an issue.

I will most likely just drive across the border and pick one up from best buy when they get them. If it gives trouble, which is not likely, I'll have to drive back and return it.

A frustrated with this. Just have to be patient and wait. I read every day and I am so tired of that silly mighty bright light dangling like a bad plant over the kindle. Have to just wait until bestbuy gets them I guess.

For all of you who have a paperwhite, I'm jealous.

Brandon, that ONLY works if you are in the Best Buy's return window. Amazon has a 1 year warranty but Best Buy is not likely to accept returns that are outside their normal return policy.

I'm sure it will be fine. These devices either give trouble from the beginning or they never give trouble. We have two already and no problems. There is not much that can go wrong to be honest and I am willing to take the risk, as supposed to not having me at all.

Is is also a business write off for me, so worst case I'll just go and buy another one, but the likelihood of having issues is slim

I called Best Buy in Niagara yesterday and they said they would have stock within 3 weeks. Not sure if they will sell the covers, but that I could always order online I suppose. I can wait the 3 weeks and then shoot across the border and buy one.

I see Apple are relasing a new 7inch iPad as well, so maybe I'll picj up 2 devices at the same time instead of waiting for the iPad to come to Canada month later.

Can anyone confirmt hat they have a PW in Canada and it works with their Canadian account and accepts a Canadian CC # for purchase of books on the e reader?
